Seventeen years ago today, we all woke up to a normal day that was suddenly going to change us as Americans. Our safe and precious world was to be jolted like never before since Pearl Harbor. We watched the flaming Twin Towers in disbelief. Then the news of a third plane headed toward the Pentagon. My first reaction was to take stock of my friends...military, first responders, police, fire department, friends that fly, etc. One of my customers tragically lost his son on the plane. It was an horrific event that touched all of us. It some how brought us closer and made us realize what was truly important in our lives. We stood tall, we were proud of our country and it's people and proud of our flag and everything it stands for. May we never forget.

My father told me several times to be kind to people on the way up, because you might meet them on the way down. He also told me you are a lucky person to die with 5 good friends. I consider myself to be very lucky and am blessed with a few more than that. Thank you all that reached out to me, physically helped me, kept me in mind for a job and just let me know they were thinking about me during this horrific experience my staff, my customers and myself have gone through. The Trow raised a lot of money for this community and did many positive things. Please remember that it is important to reach out to people in crisis. We all go through hardship, tragedy, death, etc. Reach out to people in need even if you don't know what to say. In any event thank you to my true friends, you all know who you are. And to my fair weather friends have a good life.

Always keep our military and their families in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you to all my friends, family members and customers that have served and are deployed now. It saddens me that you won't have the Trow to return to.

So I needed a few days to collect my thoughts and emotions because this is a tough pill to swallow for myself and so many other people! So after 10+ years the Trowbridge Tavern is closing, my heart breaks for Maryellen after reading some of the terrible things that these articles have said, I started at the Trowbridge when I was 17 i worked there for 12 years straight before I took a break ( marriage, child etc) NEVER in my life have I ever seen half the things that these articles have said. Yes it was an older restaurant and with that comes problems but mice? NEVER! Things that were said about MEM were not true about her character, this is the woman that opened up her restaurant for the elderly, military, those in need or delivered food to people on every holiday. Though at times she may have yelled at me ( as any mother would at there child because that is how much she means to me) but she would give you the shirt off her back or her last dollar, so I want MEM and he Trowbridge to go out with memories of joy, laughter, some tears, Kimmy dancing on the bar, but most importantly friends, family and Love! Thank you MEM for being there for my family and I for our great times and our worst times, checking in on me and my family asking if we needed any food or ANYTHING! Thank you for being my other mother, allowing me to celebrate my 18, 21 and 30 birthdays! marks deployment party, Mary Shea selectmen party, every ones birthdays, graduations, marriages and football Sunday parties and soooo many more parties, hiring and firing Cj more times then I can count and so many other amazing memories! I have met so many friends that have turned into family and for that i will be forever in your debt! I love you and THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING! Katie Connolly.
