Hi all! If you’re one of the many 100s (maybe even 1000s?) of people who wanted to know about our auction…we told you we’d announce it when we knew what the heck was going on!
Follow our page as we will announce the starting day & time plus all the details of the online auction as they are finalized in the next few days.

Our staff and crew have been working so hard every single day since March 14th, disassembling, moving, and sorting through everything. As we finish up our loose ends, take a sneak peak at the insane amount of work we have done in just a few weeks.

Why are we getting rid of things?

Well, the staff of the Dark Horse kept your drinks flowing and burgers cooking, but if you’ve been here awhile you know they’re all much more than just that. Many of them are also long time employees who have become part of our big and wonderful (and maybe a little dysfunctional) family. As a small token of gratitude, we have decided to part with many of the beloved objects as a shared goal to help and pay our long term staff a severance, as they have continually shown their dedication to our business but also the many people they have encountered over the years…not only in our closing months, but over tons of amazing Dark Horse years.

So keep in mind if you participate in this auction not only are you getting a cherished piece of memorabilia, but you’re also supporting all the people you loved that made the Dark Horse, well, the Dark Horse!

To the amazing and loyal patrons of the Dark Horse – It is with heavy hearts that we announce The World Famous Dark Horse will officially close its doors for business on our 51st anniversary, March 14th, 2026. While this is not the path we would have chosen for this historic location or our business, we are deeply grateful to have been part of Boulder’s culture for more than half a century.

We want to thank the thousands of employees and countless patrons that have contributed to the spirit and success of the Dark Horse. Every laugh, story and shared moment made has built the legacy that will live on long after we our doors close. As sad as we are, we plan to honor the Dark Horse by closing with as much joy, energy and fun as possible. We invite you to utilize this final month, especially March 14th, to come make some final memories, enjoy the history, and honor the legacy that we have built together as a business and a community.

Let’s end this era with a bang! As we prepare to end this chapter, we ask you to treat the property and staff with respect. Please leave everything as it is and treat our amazing staff with kindness and understanding during this difficult transition. Thank you for 51 unforgettable years. We hope to see you again, in another time and another place. Stay tuned…

Hi all! If you’ve been in to see us recently you know things around here have been a little crazier than normal.

We’ve decided to close on NYE to give our staff an extra day off as they have been working so hard these past few weeks.

We will be open January 1st 2026

We will also be closing at midnight and will not be hosting karaoke or trivia the first week of January.

We are working hard to keep things flowing as smooth as possible with the intense increase in business, so thank you for being patient and bearing with us not only in house but with some of our changes a long the way!

Thanks to so many of our wonderful customers, and we will see you in the New Year! 🎆
