September Release: Maryland Rye Wh***ey

A lucky mistake 33 months in the making!

It all started on a hot July harvest day. Natalie and I were out with the kids at the Baltimore Aquarium when my phone rang. It was John from the distillery: “Nate, you told me to let you know when I mess something up... I accidentally mashed in rye instead of corn.”

My response? “I guess we’re making rye wh***ey today.”

We adjusted the recipe on the spot, landing at a 57% rye / 43% corn mash bill made with 100% Maryland-grown grain and Appalachian Mountain spring water. After resting for 33 months in oak, that happy accident has aged into something truly special—a robust, sweet, and spicy Maryland Rye Wh***ey.

September Release: Pipe & Barrel Smoked Corn Wh***ey

This happy accident is arriving a little late, but it's unlike anything Pathfinder has released yet! Aged in a former Smoketown Brewery barrel that housed dark, smoky Walter's Spirit b**r, this experimental wh***ey traded corn sweetness for a lighter body, earthy smoke, Scotch-like notes, and dark b**r undertones (50% ABV). This is the only barrel of its kind and once it's gone, it won't be replicated.

Moonshine doesn’t have to mean taking a shot and questioning your recent life choices.

Flavored moonshine can be pretty easygoing.

Apple Pie works great with c***r. Blueberry and lemonade make an easy summer drink. Orange Cranberry pairs nicely with ginger ale or club soda. And sometimes the right answer is just pouring it over ice.

Before the fruit, spices, and sweetness get involved, moonshine starts with the grain.

That’s why our Red Corn Moonshine is a pretty good place to start if you want to understand the Pathfinder story.

It connects right back to the heritage Bloody Butcher red corn grown on our family farm and gives you a chance to taste more of that grain-forward character before barrel aging or added flavors change the spirit.
