If you’re keeping an injury journal, honesty matters more than making every day sound terrible. 📝⚖️

Some days during recovery may be difficult. Other days may actually be pretty good. Write down both.

Why? Because credibility matters.

If every journal entry says your pain was a 10 out of 10, even on days when you were feeling better, a jury may begin to question whether the journal accurately reflects what you experienced.

Instead, document your recovery as it actually happens.

✅ The good days
✅ The bad days
✅ Changes in your pain
✅ Limitations you experienced
✅ Progress you made along the way

An honest journal can paint a much more believable picture of what your recovery really looked like.

Tell the truth. Be consistent. Let the facts tell your story.

A journal can do more than help you remember your recovery. It can help tell your story when it matters most. 📝⚖️

We have seen firsthand how contemporaneous notes can make a difference when a client is testifying at trial.

Think about it. A year after an injury, it can be difficult to remember exactly how you felt on a particular day, what you couldn’t do, or what you were going through during treatment.

But a journal written while you were actually experiencing it can help preserve those details.

📖 What your pain was like
🏠 How the injury affected your daily life
💼 What you struggled to do at work
🩺 What you experienced during treatment and recovery

Being able to look back at notes made at the time can help you give a clearer, more accurate account of what you went through.

If you’re seriously injured and facing a long recovery, documenting your journey matters.

When you’re recovering from a serious injury, six months from now you may not remember exactly what you were dealing with today. 📝

That’s why we recommend keeping a journal when an injury requires extended medical treatment.

Your journal can help document things like:

📌 How you were feeling throughout treatment
📌 Activities you couldn’t do because of your injuries
📌 How your daily routine changed
📌 Important moments during physical therapy or recovery
📌 Ways the injury affected your work and everyday life

Why does this matter? Months later, you may be asked in a deposition or at trial to explain exactly how your injuries impacted you. Memories fade, but notes written while you were actually experiencing those challenges can help you accurately remember what happened.

If your recovery is going to take time, document the journey. It could become an important part of telling your story.

Never admit fault or sign statements at the scene of a rental car crash. Documenting vehicle damage, collecting witness details, and contacting your insurance provider promptly safeguards your financial rights.

Dealing with a rental car accident might be the last thing on your mind when you're on vacation, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be prepared to do so.

Hiring a personal injury attorney shouldn’t mean worrying about another bill while you’re already dealing with an injury. ⚖️

That’s where a contingency fee comes in.

In personal injury and wrongful death cases, our attorney fee is tied to the outcome of your case. Instead of paying attorney fees upfront, the fee is paid from the recovery if we are successful in obtaining compensation for you.

Simply put:

💰 No upfront attorney fees
⚖️ Our fee depends on a successful recovery
🤝 Our interests are aligned with yours

This gives injured people the opportunity to have experienced legal representation without having to pay attorney fees out of pocket at the beginning of their case.

If you’ve been injured and are worried about what it costs to hire an attorney, give us a call. We’ll explain how it works.

Not every accident automatically means you have a personal injury case. ⚖️ Knowing what actually makes a claim can help you understand your next steps.

Generally, there are a few key pieces that need to come together:

✔️ Negligence: Someone failed to act with reasonable care.
✔️ Causation: Their actions or inaction caused your injuries.
✔️ Damages: You suffered measurable losses, such as medical expenses, lost wages, property damage, or pain and suffering.

But having a potential claim is only part of the equation. Time matters. ⏰ Evidence can disappear, witnesses’ memories can fade, and legal deadlines can limit how long you have to take action.

And while the insurance company may seem helpful, remember that its job is to protect its own interests. Be careful about what you say or sign before you understand your rights.

If you’ve been injured because of someone else’s negligence, let us help you determine whether you have a case.

Today, we pause to remember. 🇺🇸

We remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the families whose lives were forever changed, and the first responders and everyday Americans who showed extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

We honor those who ran toward danger to help others. We remember the unity and resilience that followed. And we carry their memory with us.

From all of us at Langston & Lott, we remember, and we will never forget. 🇺🇸

At Langston & Lott, personal injury cases are handled on a contingency fee basis. That means our attorney fee is a percentage of what we recover for you. If there’s no recovery, you don’t owe us an attorney fee.

Case expenses are different. Those are the costs necessary to build and pursue your case, which may include:

📄 Medical records
⚖️ Expert witness fees
📬 Process server fees
📝 Deposition transcripts

We advance those upfront costs so you don’t have to come out of pocket while your case is being built.

We only get paid when you get paid. That’s the value of a contingency fee agreement and having a team ready to fight for you.

After a crash, the insurance company may ask you to give a recorded statement. 🎙️🚗

It may sound like a routine part of the process, but remember: the insurance adjuster works for the insurance company, not for you.

Something you say while you’re still shaken up, unsure about your injuries, or trying to remember exactly what happened could later be used to:

⚠️ Minimize the severity of your injuries
⚠️ Question how the crash happened
⚠️ Shift some of the blame onto you
⚠️ Reduce or deny your claim

You don’t have to navigate conversations with the insurance company alone. Before giving a recorded statement, talk with an attorney and understand your rights.

A lawyer guaranteeing you a specific dollar amount before your case is fully evaluated? 🚩 That should raise some serious questions.

Every personal injury case is different. Your injuries, the facts of the accident, liability, available insurance coverage, and even how a jury responds can all affect the outcome.

No attorney can control every one of those factors.

What you should expect is an honest assessment, clear communication, and an attorney willing to do the work necessary to pursue the best possible result.

Real representation. Not a sales pitch. ⚖️
