Just a note that could save your house from being flooded.
I was cleaning a dryer a few days ago. The second I jostled the water supply hose it ruptured. Luckily this persons shut off valves were in working condition. One of the connections was basically held together with rust.
So... check your washer hose connections at least once a year. Look for drips or corrosion or blisters/bubble in a rubber hose. Replace both supply hoses about every 5 years with high quality braided hoses.
Use your shut off valves when not using the washer. And be sure they are in good working order. Also know where your main house shut off is and test that occasionally.
