It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Miriam ‘Mim’ Hurvitt. She passed peacefully in her sleep at Linden Ponds Senior Living Community in Hingham, Massachusetts, with her son, Mark Hurvitt, at her side.

At age 100, Miriam lived an eventful life, and witnessed historical events such as the Great Depression, WW2, the Civil Rights Movement, the moon landings, Vietnam, the beginning of the internet, the first black president in US history, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Such history was not lost to her, as she was not one to let life pass her by or be timid in the presence of such incredible moments. She was active, involved, and took charge, never letting her voice be lost in the crowd.

No matter the era, she was an anchor to her family, leading them through tough times, and pushing forward even when things looked bleak. Such ferocity to hardship was an inspiration, and was passed on to her son, and three grandchildren, George, Max, and Cecilia Hurvitt. We here at the Devil’s Half Acre raise a glass in her honor, and send our best wishes to the family, and our beloved boss, Mark.
