One grape, four countries, and four distinct expressions of place. This Tableside Tuesday, we’re taking Syrah on a trip around the world to explore how climate, soil, and winemaking shape one of the world’s most expressive red grapes.

Taste through four Syrahs side-by-side as we uncover the grape’s signature notes of dark fruit, pepper, spice, earth, and savory character and discover just how differently those flavors can show themselves depending on where the vines are grown.

Want to go beyond the flight? Join us for an in-depth exploration of Argentina featuring four wines, accompanied by a small cheese board. We’ll dig deeper into the country’s major grapes, regions, elevations and terroirs and discover why there is far more to Argentine wine than Malbec alone.

While Argentina may be best known for Malbec, there is much more to discover. Throughout September, we’ll explore how high elevation, intense sunshine, cool mountain nights and the influence of the Andes shape the country’s wines from aromatic whites to Cabernet Franc and, of course, Malbec.

Our Regional Flight features three different expressions of Argentina:

1. Tilia TorrontĂ©s: Argentina’s wonderfully aromatic signature white grape

2. Sur de los Andes Cabernet Franc: a chance to explore a variety becoming increasingly important in Argentina

3. Catena Vista Flores Malbec:  Malbec from Mendoza’s high-elevation Uco Valley

For our Captain’s Chair, we’re taking Malbec a step further with Belasco de Baquedano GĂŒentota Malbec 2019, produced from vines approximately 100 years old. This is our opportunity to see what old vines, concentration and extended aging can bring to Argentina’s most famous grape.
