Great Job! All the North Dakota Veterans Stand Downs were a huge success. We can't wait to start planning for next year!
Bismarck: 179 Veterans/Service Members - 50 vendors
Dickinson: (new): 61 Veterans/Service Members - 22 vendors
Minot: 237 Veterans/Service Members - 66 vendors
Many more guests and dependents attended as well. Congratulations to Military Outreach reps Kelli Weiand and Nikki Frohlich. You can't ask for more dedicated and talented reps.
A special thank you to ND Cares Chairman, Todd Re*****on and Coalition Member (past co-chair) Cindy Whitesell for helping to man the resources tables.
Thank you to the Bismarck Amvets Post #9, Homesteaders Restaurant (Minot) and Marathon Petroleum Corporation (Dickinson) for providing the hot lunches.
What is a stand down? It comes from the practice in past wars of providing a safe retreat for units returning from combat operations and where troops were able to take care of personal hygiene, get clean uniforms, enjoy warm meals, receive medical and dental care, mail and receive letters, and enjoy the camaraderie of friends in a safe environment. Today, stand downs bring together agencies, organizations and benefit resources for veterans, service members and their families.
