Writing has a way of showing us what we think before we know we think it.

The pieces start scattered. Then a sentence lands. Followed by another.

Then something inside us says, there it is. That’s the magic we’re making room for at Quill, a quiet space, warm light, good coffee, and the kind of creative community that helps the pieces fall into place.

Follow along if you’re looking for a place to create in Billings.

Not every writer begins by feeling like a writer.

Sometimes it starts with a sentence you keep thinking about. A story you can’t quite shake. That little, nagging voice saying, maybe I should try.

Quill exists for that beginning...and for every messy, beautiful draft after.

Follow along if you’ve ever wanted to write but weren’t sure where to start.

Saturday felt like stepping into the kind of evening you don’t usually find anymore.

Candlelit ambiance. A four-course table. The soft glow of lamps.

And conversation that went deeper than small talk ever dares to.

At our first Alchemist Dinner, we talked about our dreams, our fears, and what we’re willing to risk to become who we really are. We told the truth. We laughed. We got quiet. We left a little more aware.

It was incredible. And honestly unlike anything I’ve ever experienced in Billings.

This is what Quill is here for: a home for creators… and a table where becoming can happen.

If you felt a pull reading this, it’s because you belong at the table.
We have 6 Alchemist Circle founding spots left. Alchemists receive four curated dinners per year included, plus the best rate on our monthly dinners.

Comment “ALCHEMIST” and we’ll send you an invitation.

🌙🕯️ Latte of the Week: Midnight Fig

Soft, dark, and a little mysterious...like the best kind of late-night chapter.

Midnight Fig is espresso with fig and vanilla, finished with steamed milk (oat milk is incredible here). It’s not spiced, not overly sweet; just velvety, cozy, and quietly addictive.

Come try it this week at Quill.

Then stay long enough to write a paragraph.

Welcome to Quill, where the TV is either:

1. Off
2. Politely advertising our events

If you’re alone, you can absolutely put on a show and papasan-rot in peace.

But if another member arrives…we ask that you return the room to quiet creature mode (unless they are also down for a little TV). 🕯️📚

Ziggy doesn’t just help you write… he helps you stop avoiding writing. 😅🖋️

When you’re procrastinating, Ziggy becomes your worst nightmare in the best possible way:

calls out “productive” distractions (hello, reorganizing)
drags you lovingly for “researching medieval armor for 3 hours for one line”
reminds you that scrolling isn’t character development
nudges you back to the page with just enough sass to make you laugh, not rage

And if you really need it? He’ll start a timer and make it a game:

⏱️ Beat the clock…or endure relentless commentary about your commitment issues.

Come meet Ziggy at Quill. We’re writing anyway. 🕯️

🕯️ Winner Published: “Dream” by Sara Beth Wald 🕯️

Last month's writing contest, The Dreamer’s Hand, asked writers to tell the truth about the dreams we’ve almost let go of and the first step back.

Today, we’re proud to share that our winning entry, “Dream,” is now live on the Quill website.

This piece made us laugh out loud and get teary-eyed in the same breath. It’s sharp, brave, and deeply human about purpose, illness, money, resilience, and the stubborn decision to keep moving anyway.

A few words from our judges:
✨ “For me, what made this entry my first choice, though, was the imagery and emotional connection I had to it.”
✨ “I also enjoyed the blog style sentences - that were short and punchy about their relationship with money and the quick turnaround”
✨ “Well crafted and great pace…writer brought reader along for the journey. ”
