Ever heard three gunshots and thought... fire alarm? 🔫🔥

For History Friday, we’re taking it back to July 1883 right here on Montana Avenue. A massive fire broke out between 26th and 27th streets, and back then, the signal for the fire brigade wasn’t a siren: it was three quick gunshots!

That wild night was a huge turning point for our neighborhood. It prompted the shift from wooden buildings to the beautiful, resilient brickwork we see today, like the iconic Union Depot (pictured here!) right down the street. 🧱✨

We’re proud to be part of a block with such a gritty, determined history. Next time you’re sipping a craft beer on our patio, take a look around at the architecture that literally rose from the ashes. It’s because of that resilience that we have such a cool spot to gather today.

Ever heard of the original Billings "Beer Run"?

Back in 1882, local pioneer Perry McAdow had the ultimate hook: he offered free beer to anyone who rode his streetcars! Talk about a marketing genius. 🍻

While the streetcars have since retired and the law is a bit stricter about "free beer" for a ride these days, Bar MT is still the best spot on Historic Montana Avenue to find a cold craft brew and a friendly crowd. We love being part of this area's incredible history, even if we can't quite match Perry's 1882 ticket deals!

Stop by this afternoon to soak in some local history and enjoy the best craft beer Billings has to offer. See you on the patio!

Did you know our home on Montana Avenue was right in the heart of the action when Billings officially became the "Magic City"? 🚂✨

Back in 1882, the Northern Pacific Railroad arrived right here, and things changed forever. Almost overnight, a tent city turned into a bustling hub of trade and travel. It’s why we’re so proud to be part of this historic stretch today!

The photo here shows the Union Depot just a few decades after that first train rolled in. Our building actually served as the depot’s lunchroom back in the day: which makes it the perfect spot to keep the tradition of good drinks and great company alive.

Come grab a craft beer and soak in a little bit of Billings history with us. We’re open and ready to hear your favorite local stories!
