Today's Big Horn, Wyoming DT is thriving and booming to become the West's next metropolis, just as much as it ever was! Since 1882, this venue has welcomed arriving travelers who were storied legends and lore and served wet goods and more. The establishment at 158 Johnson St, Big Horn, WY is purportedly Wyoming's oldest founded bar. Visitors such as Ernest Hemingway and more have enjoyed this clean, well-lighted place as it transitioned from bar to market and back to bar and restaurant through numerous lively decades and as many equal proprietors. As you can see inside the current bar top, during Ms. Bernice's operating tenure, she stashed Silver Eagle Dollars in the back walls where she also resided. In addition to the original name of The Last Chance Saloon - not to be confused with our wonderful current operating neighbor that actually was originally the town Livery Stable location - there were several different shingles hung, such as Big Horn Bar & Brownie’s, Hensinger, Bernice’s and being situated smack dab on the old Conestoga wagon route of the 'Bozeman Trail', from Casper, Wyoming to Bozeman, Montana, it was given the name of The Bozeman Trail Inn. More recently, a fire within the establishment offered the opportunity for the Sheperd's to refurbish and update the fine establishment, while keeping the main hall intact and on the United States National Historic Registry. Today, we wish everyone to feel welcome, to have a place and indeed, The Bozeman Stable, will carry on as a place where everyone is welcome for hearty cheers and warm sustenance!
