First up, thanks to everyone that came by Gravity this past holiday weekend. We got to see some good friends on Friday and had a crowd over the Big Flat Homecoming. And big thanks to our Beertenders for keeping the beer flowing. Mwah!

Two good brew days this week - we brewed Skippin’ Stones session IPA with Chuck, Mitch and Ethan. Bill also got the AC unit into the wall of the small walk-in.

We tapped out of our Hot Coco Chocolate Brown and Nightfall India Black. We put the Coco Chan-Ale Chocolate Brown on and a new beer, Chi Chi Boom tropical IPA. It’s not fruity as some, but has a nice lingering hoppiness. We’ve got other beers waiting in the wings, and lots of flowers that love the rains we’ve been getting!

HBD to our longtime friend and patron Jerry L! We celebrated it early this past Thursday. This week brought us much-needed rain - big storms that fortunately didn’t knock out our power on brew days. We got in two batches of Nepthys Hefeweizen with help from Chuck and Ethan. Bill finally got around to hanging his fabulous raffle prize from the Queen City Chapter of the BCCA.

We’re sorry to report that our musician friend Leesa Johnson has had to postpone her visit to Gravity this weekend. But she promises a future date, so we’ll let you know. Meanwhile, our second poetry reading at Gravity is coming up on June 5. Come read or listen!

We were sad to read that PrestonRose Brewing is up for sale. Liz and Mike are still open for now, so you may want to get in a visit real soon.

We’ve got the Cleveland Brown Ale back on tap, as well as the last of the Nightfall India Black. We’ll have Flandemonium Flanders Red through the weekend so if this is your fave, come and get it!

I actually got to run the register last Thursday! What excitement! Seriously, I stood in for Sarah while she was out for a bit last Thursday. This week I kegged Brahma Fear IPA - that’s it in the sight glass photo. Bill and I had a brew day, making the first half of a batch of Nepthys Hefeweizen. Mitch and I did the second half today; since yours truly was pretty busy, there’s not too many photos.

Our beer line/up didn’t change this week. We still have Hoppy Together India Red and Nightfall India Black ales on tap, along with Flandemonium Flanders Red Ale and most of our usual suspects. We hope to get the Oat of Sight Scottish kegged soon. May is still being cool, even a bit chilly, and still very dry. More turtles, please!

Of course Chuck got his pic taken!

Chuck and Suzanne represented Gravity at the Taste of Arkansas beer event last Saturday. They said they had a good time; big thanks to Rogue Roundabout for hosting! Sorry we didn’t make it - been under the weather lately.

We had a storm here Monday night/Tuesday morning, which knocked out the power at the brewery. We called it a day, and good thing we did - power got restored about 4:30 pm. So we brewed a half-batch of Wham Bam Hazy IPA today and will get it finished on Friday. We also got in a pallet of grain to get us started on our summer beers.

Come join us for poetry and beer! We’ve set another date for the Poetry Night at Gravity - Friday, June 5. This time it’s readings only, no contest, and we’ll begin at 5 pm. We’ve also gotten a call from our friend Leesa Johnson, who’s planning a musical visit to Gravity on Memorial Day weekend! More deets later.

We’re coming down to the wire on our Hoppy Together India Red and Nightfall India Black ales. We should be kegging Brahma Fear soon. If you’re coming out for a visit, bring your jacket - it’s been cooler these last few days!

Another wild weather week! We had T-storms last weekend, rain, wind, more T-storms, tornadoes, and rain. We had lightning strikes and power outages. We’re just glad the power stayed on while we finished brewing our Oat of Sight Oat of Mind Scottish Ale!

The Rogue Roundabout in Conway will host the first Arkansas Brewers Guild event of the year! The Taste of Arkansas is this Saturday, from 1 to 6 pm. Ten breweries will have their beer on tap, and this is an 8 oz pour, not a taste. So if you’re out and about, stop in for a visit.

Gravity still has the “bigger” beers on tap - Flandemonium Flanders Red, Sojourner Double Oat Stout, and Half- Ton Wee Heavy Scottish - as well as our usual suspects. Come see us in Big Flat or in Conway this Saturday!

A big shout-out to all the CAF and TLHC members that came out for Saturday’s beer judging. Thanks also to Bo and Jack, who sat in with us for the tasting. We had a great time as always; we appreciate all of you! We’re looking forward to brewing Berliner Weiss with Brian English. And to top off our weekend, a couple of former Brew Crew fo stopped in - Pete and Jenny. Whew!

After all that, we had to chill out with a couple of brew days. We made a batch of our Brahma Fear IPA, with Chuck’s and Ethan’s help.

We left our Flandemonium Flanders Red Ale on tap, and put the Brown-Eyed Girl back on tap. Our Half-Ton Wee Heavy Scottish Ale is also on, in honor of our 1000th batch. Things here are in bloom, but we are sorely behind on rainfall. More turtles, please!!

We’ve had some busy weeks here lately, so I’m finally catching up. First, we brewed a batch of our Kolsch from the Cold with all our brew assistants. In fact, one of our former Brew Crew members, Ashley, came by for a visit. We had a good time last Friday and Saturday with the poetry readings and contest. We heard some dramatic and fun poems, read to a small but enthusiastic audience. Jill Valenti won the contest with a heartfelt and moving reading.

This week we canned our Wham Bam Hazy IPA, kegged our Flandemonium Flanders Red Ale, and then brewed another batch today to put straight back into the barrels. We put a keg of Flandemonium on tap because we’ll host the Central AR Fermenters and the Twin Lakes Homebrewers on Saturday. We moved our judging up a couple of months this year; we chose Berliner Weiss as our beer style, and we’re excited to see what people come up with.

Also on tap are our Sojourner Double Oat Stout and Half-Ton Wee Heavy Scottish Ale, our 1000th batch. In spite of the lack of rain, things are greening up and blooming, and turkeys are running around. Please do a rain dance or draw turtles or whatever, we could use some moisture!

Beginning at 2 pm Saturday, poets will compete in a poetry recitation. Poems may be original or written by another author, but must be appropriate for a public, mixed audience. Each recitation should be between 1-4 minutes. No props, costumes, or musical accompaniment; this is about the voice and the words. Join us for one or both of these special events!
