If you saw us on Thanksgiving Eve, this announcement should be no surprise.
This year has been devastating for so many people. This virus has taken many lives and is on the verge of tearing apart society as a whole. After 3 years of blood, sweat, and tears...we opened our doors 28 days before a pandemic. Due to being a new business, we were ineligible for ANY local, state, or federal aid. The last $1.3 BILLION dollars of federal CARES aid went to balance the state’s mismanaged budget, not to the people suffering the most. I can think of 26,000 small businesses throughout the Commonwealth that could have used $50,000 each to join a coordinated effort to temporarily close and help get us through the winter. Regrettably, that didn’t happen.
With your help, we have gotten this far but another shutdown just isn’t an option for us. We, and thousands of other small businesses throughout the country simply will not survive.
We are not downplaying the severity of this virus, this is a decision based solely on what is best for our families in a time of emergency.
After speaking with our bank, staff members, families, attorneys, and local government officials...we have decided we will not comply with future shutdown mandates. We will continue to operate with the same, proven-safe measures we implemented 5 months ago.
As we decided in March, we will NOT terminate employees who are unable to come to work. We will do our best to raise funds and provide opportunities for them to work from home but their benefits are non-existent as well.
We are still collecting non-perishable food items to help distribute and we ask that you join our effort in supporting, not ostracizing, our neighbors and community.
If you don’t agree with our decision, that’s totally fine. We respect you and the decisions you need to make to keep yourself and your families safe and we ask that you extend the same courtesy to us and others making these difficult decisions.
We ask that any questions, negative comments, or concerns be sent privately to us so we can address you with the time and attention that you deserve.
