Join us at Friendly on June 21st from 3:00 to 5:00 PM for a spectacular double-bill celebrating top-tier songwriting and classic country harmonies.
The lineup features Steve Hughes & Friends, with an ever-changing roster of incredible local talent accompanying Hughes as he showcases songs from his forthcoming roots album. Heavily inspired by childhood summers in Branson, Missouri, and honed alongside Chicago staples like Steve Dawson and Diane Christiansen, Hughes’ dream-inspired catalog has earned him well-deserved comparisons to folk-legend Townes Van Zandt.
Bringing even more classic twang to the afternoon are The Lonesome Souls (Mary Israelite, Molly Deshaies, Steve Hughes, and Bob Jackiewicz). This dynamic country quartet specializes in the harmony-heavy classics that built the foundation of country music, paying beautiful tribute to icons like Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, Tammy Wynette, and Skeeter Davis.

06/09/2026

Lovers of melodic, guitar-driven power pop, take note: Friendly in Berwyn is proud to present a special “Trio of Trios” on Friday, July 10th at 7:30pm, featuring Sunshine Boys, The Dry Look and The Purcells.
Tickets on sale now, link in bio.

Sunshine Boys have returned from a hiatus that followed the departure of their original drummer, Freda Love Smith. Joining guitarist/singer Dag Juhlin (Expo’76, Courtesy Patrol, Poi Dog. Pondering) and bassist Jackie Schimmel (Justin Roberts, Tiny Bit of Giant’s Blood) is drummer Gerald Dowd (every other band in town). The band has a clutch of newly written material that takes the soaring, urgent pop of their two highly-acclaimed LPs (Blue Music and Work & Love) to newer and even more powerful heights.

The Dry Look is Leslie Wall-Santos (drums), Kevin Brady (bass/vocals), and Mike Ritt (guitar/ vocals). They infuse their wry, harmony-soaked originals with an off-the-cuff energy that pays tribute to their pub rock/mod/jangling new wave influences. They’re also known for peppering their sets with well-chosen, not-so-obvious covers.

The Purcells are Al Hennagir (guitar/vocals), Bill Goodwyn (bass/vocals), and Don Yanek (drums), and they’re currently at work on their second LP. Their strummy indie pop summons the sparkling warmth of bands like The Clean and The Go-Betweens, and brings the aesthetic of classic ‘80s jangle pop into the here and now.

A “Trio of Trios” for one big night only. Pop music is going to fill the air at Friendly on July 10th, and you’re going to want to be there. Bring two friends.

Join us June 12th on the Friendly stage for an evening with Violet Clare, the indie-folk project of 21-year-old songwriter Violet Bowdle. Since moving to Chicago from East Grand Rapids, Violet has quickly become a staple of the local music scene, gracing stages from The Red Room to Sofar Sounds. Her music is a masterclass in vulnerability, weaving intricate reflections on childhood, humanity, and the natural world. Whether she’s performing at a festival or an intimate house show, Violet’s lyric-forward approach is raw, authentic, and unapologetically human. Come experience the songwriter who has spent the last decade turning personal reflections into songs that resonate long after the final note.
