The Hoi Polloi Brewing Taproom and Beat Lounge is located in the Lorin District of South Berkeley, CA. Originally, we brewed on-site in a 3 barrel brewery. Recently, we moved our brewing operations to an off-site 7 barrel brewery in Oakland, CA. This allows us to produce a variety of beers that (we hope!) will be enjoyed by a wide audience. We also host a carefully curated and rotating selection o

Some of you already know this but Friday 3/6/26 is Noelle’s last day at Hoi Polloi. It’s truly a sad loss for us but another employer gains truly an awesome person that treats people with respect, kindness, and love. Her last shift is this Friday 3/6/26 (3-730pm). Let’s send her off in the way that she deserves. There will be pop up, 80’s new wave music, beer/cider/wine, and happy tears !

We’ll have West Coast IPA, Cold Pale Ale, Hazy IPA, Irish- Style Red Ale, Belgian-Style Single, and Belgian-Style Tripel available. We regret to inform you that tomorrow, Saturday, 10/4/25 is Tessa’s last shift. For the last 6-7 years Tessa has been a fixture at our little taproom. While we are so happy and excited that she will be moving on to her next chapter in life, we will sorely miss the love, compassion, and empathy that she consistently shows to our patrons and staff. From her legendary Domino Sundays, to her eclectic musical taste, to her wonderfully creative art and photography, she brought a unique spirit to everything she touched. Tessa will always be a legend in our eyes. Let’s bid her farewell the proper way tomorrow. There will be DJ music, pop-up food , drink, and of course Tessa!
