The Silo Series started, actually, about 15 years ago as a one-off event with Alastair Moock, at his request. "Have you ever done a house concert?" he said to me........ok, this begs for the back story....
I was the Americana Music Director at the time for WNTI Radio in Hackettstown, NJ. I had recently 'discovered' Alastair's music and had reached out to him. We quickly became friends and he came
into the studio a few times for live performances when he was in the area. It seemed i was on to something. The house concert suggestion intrigued me, so i went for it. Following Alastair's appearance a few other artists showed interest, so i had a few more over the next 2 years or so. Well, it became increasingly difficult to keep up with the demand. I decided, at my then station managers suggestion, to take the house concert format into the studio with a one hour interview/performance show which i titled 'Sessions at Centenary'. Over the next 7-8 years i managed to make this show into a wonderful alternative to the house concerts that satisfied my craving for exposure for these artists (typically newcomers or slightly under the radar) and my quest to give them a broader audience. Fast forward to 2015.......WNTI is sold to another NPR affiliate, and goes to a strictly internet broadcast format. Not my cup of tea. So, i bid farewell to my terrestrial broadcast days. But then there's the music.......I must keep my feet wet.......what to do...? That brings us to 2016. The Silo Series is back! We did 3 or 4 shows last year. All very successful. And we intend to keep doing as many as we can within the bounds of sanity. Ok, that's our 'story'.......here's the skinny on the event:
We have just shy of 3 acres of beautiful landscaped property here in rural Warren County. Plenty of parking in our front field. we can accommodate, easily, a hundred people. Our events are OUTSIDE events, under the shade of mature trees with plenty of lush lawn to lay a blanket down. All events, unless otherwise specified, are pot luck, so bring a dish to share, along with your favorite beverage of any kind. We provide coffee, tea, and some desserts. We insist on you having a good time! Our performers are hand picked to provide a quality listening experience for audiences of all ages. The atmosphere is always one of joy and love. The Magic Patio (our special stage area) will infect your soul with abundance and serenity. So..........that's our story and we're sticking to it! Come experience all that we have to offer.
