For the past six years, I have been in love with my work. I feel so damn lucky to have been able to do what I did, in a town I LOVE..I met some incredible people and learned so much about life, myself and acceptance. Being part of Downtown Bellingham made me feel so special and a part of something magical.
There was rarely a day I didn't to go to work because it was such a part of me. In the mornings before getting behind the bar I was doing everything I had to do to get ready to open, Yay, some days bingeing Netflix sounded like way more fun but once I was doing my thing, and saying, "" Hey" to Wine Lovers on the street, I could feel my groove coming on and be like, "Holy s**t, this is me," And then customers would actually come into my place and i'd still think to myself, "Holy s**t, I have customers."
My dream for Vinostrolgy never happened. Don't get me wrong, we had some fabulous nights, there just needed to be more of them. Trust me, I was not living a nightmare, far from it. I'm just saying that I thought my business would be more successful.
For those of you who also loved Vinostrology, I feel your pain. My first wish would have been to stay open and do what I do best. BUT, the timing was right to sell and that is what I've done. The new buyers are terrific young women who work harder than anyone I know. The are keeping two of the winestations and will be trained on the POPCORN!!! I strongly encourage you to check them out and show support if you like what's happening. Too many killer businesses in this town don't get the love they need to survive.
So many people have asked me what my next plans are, I don't really have any but if you know of someone who needs a wine savvy server with an occasional snarky response to customers, I'm your gal;-)
It takes a village and a couple of trailer parks, friends.
