Every Committee Deserves a Direct Line!

Here is a quiet failure in most clubs and HOAs.

The Board makes a decision. The committee does the work. And the members?

They find out through a rumor at the bar or a notice nobody reads thru yet another email blast.

Governance breaks down not because leaders do not care, but because they have no clean channel to the people they serve.

Raymond Reyes, GM at Port Huron Golf Club, described what changed with Clubster:

"Whether it is the Greens Committee, Finance Committee, Membership Experience Committee, or Board of Directors, each group has a simple, direct way to communicate with the members they serve"

Read that again: Each Group. Not one club-wide megaphone. A direct line for every committee to the members who elected them.

That is not a feature your billing app forgot to build. It is a category
it was never in.

Boards and HOA directors: what would change if every committee could reach members directly, this week?

The board benefit nobody put on the brochure.

Ask a club leader why they bought their management software and they will say billing, tee sheets, POS, dues. Transactions.

Now ask them how their Board and committees actually reach the members they serve. Silence.

Here is what surprised a 22-year GM most after rolling out Clubster:

"One benefit I did not fully appreciate at first was the impact on
governance. Most mobile apps bundled with club management systems are designed around transactions. Clubster complements that by making communication easy for boards and committees."

That is Raymond Reyes, General Manager of Port Huron Golf Club.

Think about it. Your Greens Committee, your Finance Committee, your Membership Experience Committee, your Board of Directors. Every one of them is elected or appointed to serve members, and most have no simple, direct way to talk to them.

Your ERP was never going to fix that. It was not built to.

If you sit on a club or HOA board, how does your committee reach members today? I am curious. Drop a comment below.

Let me show you what real member engagement looks like.

This is an actual 30-day snapshot today from Kenmure Country Club, one of our clubs, with 870 members. Here is a rolling 30 days on Clubster:

The club sent just 6 posts to the entire membership, and those alone pulled 77,786 views. Then the real volume happened inside the club's groups, 119 posts and 65 events, so every message landed with the members who actually cared about it. Broad where it should be broad, targeted where it should be targeted.

Add it all up:

1,407,333 post and event views in 30 days
127,203 notifications delivered by email, mobile push, and in-app

That is roughly 1,600 views per member in a single month, on a private, ad-free platform, all for around $100 a month. That is our patented Channel Curation doing exactly what we built it to do.

This is what happens when members finally have one place they actually check.

Okay, now I am feeling a little competitive, so let's have some fun. πŸ˜„ What does your club, HOA, or association pull in a month? Monthly Views, Engagement, Opens, Clicks, Event Fill Rates, whatever you track. Drop your numbers in the comments and let's see how everyone stacks up. And if you are not totally sure what you actually get today... well, that might tell you something too. πŸ˜‰

If you would rather just see it for yourself, send us a message and we will show you what this looks like for a club like yours.

A note we received recently from Cary Campbell, GM at Klingler Lake Country Club, that we keep coming back to:

"Clubster is the best value enhancement a club can make. As a communication tool it is exceptional. The membership engagement and response has been amazing. We can make the message in one place and 100% of the membership is updated."

Cary has developed clubs, bought and turned around troubled ones, and owned club management companies. So when he says 100% of the membership is updated from one place, that is coming from someone who has seen it all.

That is what we are after every day. Members who are informed, engaged, and connected to their club.

If you run a Club, HOA, Association or Community and your updates keep getting lost in email and Facebook, send us a message. We would be glad to connect you directly with GMs like Cary so you can hear it firsthand. 😊

The proof: Two GMs, decades of experience, same conclusion!
I do not ask you to take my word for it. Take theirs.

Rob Clark, PGA, General Manager and Director of Golf at The Ledges in

Huntsville, Alabama, two weeks after going live:

"Through two weeks we have over 1/3 of our members signed up and every event we have posted has filled in 24 hours. In my twenty-two years at the club we have never had this response to marketing and communications, and we have attempted everything under the moon. Clubster is by far the best marketing and communication tool I have seen in my 35 years in the club business."

Raymond Reyes, General Manager of Port Huron Golf Club:

"Clubster's real competition is not another app. It is member
disengagement."

Two clubs. Two seasoned leaders. More than 50 combined years in the business. Same conclusion. Read their testimonials attached. Reach out to them.

The bundled app handles the transaction. Fine. Keep it.

But if your members are drifting, quiet and unengaged, no billing screen is going to save that relationship. Belonging does. Communication does.

If you have ever watched a good member quietly slip away, let's talk.

That is exactly the problem we solve.

Your email open rate is lying to you. And it is not your email tool's fault.

Here is the uncomfortable part: about 90% of email in the US and Canada is opened in Gmail or Apple Mail, and both of them break open tracking. Gmail caches the tracking pixel and undercounts your opens. Apple Mail loads it automatically for every message and inflates them. So the single number most clubs, associations, and organizations use to judge whether a message landed is unreliable the moment it is collected.

You are not measuring engagement. You are guessing.

The way out is not a better email tool. It is owning the channel, so you can see what members actually do: feed views, video plays, comments, likes, push opens, real clicks. Every one a real action on a real device.

Because a club is not a transaction. A bank app gets opened for a task and closed. A community gets opened out of belonging, again and again. That is where engagement actually lives, and it is the thing an open rate was never going to show you.

The dues conversation nobody wants to have

GMs, what's ONE lost membership actually worth at your club? Most boards can't answer that fast, and that's exactly the problem. πŸ‘‡

Here is the uncomfortable math every GM already knows.

A disengaged member is a former member who has not resigned yet.

They stop reading. They stop coming. They start asking their spouse, "Remind me why we belong here?" And then a renewal notice arrives and the answer is silence.

You do not lose members in one dramatic moment. You lose them one skipped event, one missed update, one quiet month at a time.

Raymond Reyes, GM at Port Huron Golf Club, said something every board should print and hang in the room: "Every interaction a member has with their club either strengthens or weakens their sense of belonging."

He stopped seeing Clubster as a monthly software expense and started seeing it as, in his words, "one of the smallest financial risks with one of the broadest impacts on member engagement."

Retention is not a marketing project. It is a communication habit.

So I will ask it straight: what is a single lost member worth at your club per year? Drop the number in the comments. I am betting it is bigger than your entire annual software budget, and once you see that number, the debate is over.

This is not about adding another app!

Whenever I talk to a club leader, the reflex is the same:

"We already have an app. We do not need another one."

I get it. Nobody wants more software. Nobody wants another login.

But this was NEVER about adding an app. It is about the one thing your bundled software was never built to do: make communication so easy that it actually happens, every day, from the staff you have empowered!

Listen to how Raymond Reyes, GM at Port Huron Golf Club, described the change:

"Our Food and Beverage Manager posts dinner specials on her phone. Our golf professionals promote merchandise, tournaments, and upcoming events as they happen. Communication has become part of the daily rhythm of operating the club instead of another task waiting to be completed."

That is not a feature. That is a culture shift.

The technology did not make his staff better communicators. It made communication easy enough that they finally do it more often.

This is ground zero of why a club exists: connection. Not a second app.

Not another line item. Connection.

Are your members hearing from your club every day, week, or every quarter?

Naming the difference: transactional vs. community

Let me draw a line that most club leaders feel but rarely name.

Transactional software answers ONE question for a member: "What do I owe and when is my tee time?"

Community software answers a different question entirely: "Do I know what is happening at my club, and do I feel part of it?"

Those are not the same product. They are not even the same goal.

Raymond Reyes, GM at Port Huron Golf Club, put it perfectly:

"Most mobile apps bundled with club management systems are designed around transactions... Members are not looking for another app. They simply want confidence that they know what is happening at their club."

Here is the chain he described, and it is the whole ballgame:

Information becomes involvement.
Involvement becomes engagement.
Engagement becomes a sense of belonging.

Your billing app was never designed to do that. It was not built to. That is not a knock on it. It is just a different job.

Ask yourself which job actually keeps members renewing.
