π Introducing The Belle Tavern Players of the Week for BVA varsity spring sports:
π Gia Dusi (track and field)
Gia placed 2nd in the pole vault at the West Mifflin Last Chance Meet, qualifying for both the WPIAL Championships and the New Balance Nationals in Philadelphia this June with a vault of 10 feet. Congrats, Gia!
π Skylar Salay (track and field)
Skylar was Field MVP at the Fayette County Coaches Association Track and Field Championships on April 24th, where she earned first-place medals in javelin and shot put. Congrats, Skylar!
π Chessa Mertz (girls flag football)
Chessa dominated both sides of the ball with a combined total of 33 receptions, 147 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown, 4 passing touchdowns, and 5 defensive interceptions throughout the 3 games during the week of April 13-17. Congrats, Chessa!
π Zach Plymire (baseball)
Zach had a strong two-game series against Albert Gallatin. At the plate, he went 5-for-9 with a double, 3 RBIs, and 3 stolen bases. On the mound in game two, Zach threw a complete game (6 innings), allowing just 1 run while striking out 6 opponents. Congrats, Zach!
π Connor Bergman (baseball)
Connor went 6-7 from the plate with 2 doubles and 9 RBIs in the two-game series with Laurel Highlands. Congrats, Connor!
π Ryan Kent (track and field)
Ryan earned three gold medals at the California Twilight Invitational. He broke both the school record and the meet record in shot put with a throw of 54' 10". In the discus, Ryan broke the school record with a throw of 159' 1". Congrats, Ryan!
