We were in The Oak & Vine today taking care of some last minute tasks before we open. A couple of local celebrities stopped in to say hello as well as a couple of brothers that grew up here, moved out west, then gravitated back and settled closer to home north of Indy. It was great to see them. The 4 of them made some new friends. Say hello if you recognize them!

Week 45 & 46 Progress Update -

It’s been a busy 2 weeks! We have finished our POS hardware and application install. Our distributors are setup and their products delivered. We held a private event for the benefit of a couple of family members. The team we have put together comes from within families we have known our entire lives having grown up in Batesville. One is a new face to us but she is such a good fit we feel like we’ve known her forever too! With this comes a staff that is trusted, smart, and excited to work together. They all had some related experience but we boosted their knowledge by putting them through some intense focused training. We sent some of our staff to the Cincinnati Bartending School which has been in business since 1978. The rest of our staff couldn’t take the time required to go to Cincinnati everyday, so Will the owner of the school, brought the training to them at The Oak & Vine. He put together two customized classes built around the signature drinks we plan to feature. The drinks were picked by the Team. We brought in some well known expert tasters from the Batesville area to try out the drinks the team made during the classes (they helped us pick out the w**es we will carry too). The Tasters gave a big thumbs up to our team’s mixology and the signature drinks we put together! Thank you Will for the knowledge and the fun we had gaining it! We are now tweaking our food offerings. The next post you see here will be announcing our opening date! 🥃🍷🍺

Week 44 Progress Update -

The transition is complete! From 3 successful hair salons to The Oak & Vine. We hope for a lot of good times and the creation of a Batesville main stay for many years to come. The little corner inside the entrance is complete too. We plan to offer souvenirs and wares from some of the other small businesses downtown. Our POS hardware shipped and should arrive Monday. We setup some very focused mixology refresher and training for our staff this coming week too. We will be posting our opening date very soon now.

Today we have 6 of our staff members helping out at the Tap & Chisel Craft Brew & Spirits Fest. Come on out and check it out!

Week 43 Progress Update -

Our first spirits order arrived Friday from one of the three distributors we found to replace Republic. Orders from the other two will arrive this coming week. We have 5 distributors in place now. The stuff for the little corner inside the entrance and the POS hardware is arriving this next week too. We are continuing work on the menus and sale buttons in the software. Thank you all for the positive feedback on painting the 3rd floor green! We agree with you that it looks way better than the black would have.

Week 42 Progress Update -

The Batesville Fire Chief has given us his final ok and we received our occupancy certificate. We placed a Spirits order with a new distributor and the order will arrive next week. We are meeting with another distributor today. A big shout out to Lisa in the paint department at Gillman’s! We were going to paint the vinyl siding on the 3rd floor black like the rest of the facade, she told us painting vinyl siding a darker color than it’s original will cause it to warp and shrink from the sun, especially if it’s black. So we had Williams Remodeling, Inc. paint it sage green to compliment our green blinds, vines, and inside theme. We also installed the rest of the blinds in the windows up there. The pic below shows their awesome work! The green is off color a little in the pic, you need to see it in person to get the actual. What we are putting in the little corner inside was delayed a week due to a minor change we made, but we painted the corner, to get it ready. We also continued our POS software setup work.

Week 41 Progress Update -

We addressed the minor fire safety items the Fire Chief identified last week. We will invite him back this coming week to approve. We also purchased and started setting up our POS and payroll software. We have connected with some other distributors too and will be able to place orders this next week. We installed speakers under the awning out front to help invite you in soon. Also the 3rd floor will finally be painted and the new blinds will be installed. We have this little corner space right inside the entrance we weren’t sure what to do with (see pic). We finally came up with a great idea and we will have completed pics next week.

Week 40 Progress Update -

We were approved by the Batesville Building Commissioner and Code Enforcement. The Batesville Fire Department Chief also inspected the building and found a few minor things. We are correcting those next week. We will also begin implementing our Point of Sale and Payroll systems. We did encounter another totally out of left field delay! The Spirits distributor we planned to use, Republic National Distribution, closed their doors and went out of business before our first order was delivered! They were the largest distributor. The many different brands of spirits they sold are being divided up among several other existing distributors. We now have to find out who is selling what brands we want and setup new accounts with each of them. The deciding of who will carry which brands is also still ongoing. So we are busy finding out who, what, and when and going through the processes of setting up new accounts with each of them. Hope to have the spirits we want flowing in soon! 🥲Our b**r and w**e distributors are all set. 😅. 🥃🍷🍺

Week 38 & 39 Prgress Update -

Our apologies for not posting Week 38! With the July 4th holiday in there we helped out CD's Mobile Auto Wash with the Batesville parade as they were out of town. We also held a couple of training sessions for the staff. Thanks to those who helped out with them, they learned a lot! Our dumpster was also delivered and we did meet with the Building Commissioner and Code Enforcement. They found 4 or 5 small things we needed to do.

We addressed those items this Week 39 and will meet with them next week for a re-do. 🤞🏻

Week 37 Prgress Update -

The dumpster pad has sat for a week and is ready to hold weight, the dumpster will be delivered next week. The Health Department approved us to open! Now we meet with the Building Commissioner and Code Enforcement next week for their final inspection. We received our first alcohol order Friday. More will be arriving next week. 🥃🍷🍺
