The little Whalers will be heading north after Santa’s arrival. Santa will be making a stop at the Schifty Whale to fuel up and feed the reindeer as he heads to the North Pole. Stay tuned for updates of his arrival.

Pan Mass Challenge tomorrow BMW Shouthshore team pit stopping at the Schifty Whale. Goid luck yo all the Pan Mass riders! - The Captain & his mates

The Pan Mass team that stops by the Schifty Whale has quite a history.

The team started 19 years ago with 7 riders. One of those riders Chris Cobb who ended up passing away on a Pan Mass Challenge weekend in 2012 from an extremely aggressive cancer.

For the first year of the team, ZipCar bought us shirts and then became a bigger sponsor in year two when the masthead joined the team. Between then and now, we average about 24 riders each year, but had a team as big as 40 people one or two years.

We were ZipCar for 12-13 years. Then BMW Southshore and for the past 3 years we have been with Polar out of Worcester. I believe in total we have raised over $6M since the beginning.

Most of the teams funds goes to support pediatric brain cancer at DanaFarber

The team started stopping by the Schifty Whale in 2017 or 2018 and the stop at the Whale has become a memorable part of the event. And we use it in our recruiting videos!

So proud of my nephews Thomas and John and my niece Isabelle who is the Band manager. Knowing my beautiful sister Allison and her love of music growing up, she was the master of mixed tapes and motivational, fun loving music, and her influence on the boys is noted by John who credits his parents with helping I still a love of music in them at a young age. Kudos to beautiful, smart, talented amazingly strong and capable Nikki who has found her voice! And also a shout out to Liam and Graham Grmpstead and their whole family, just wonderful people and neighbors. Next interview I’d love to hear about the influence of our good friend and neighbor, Gerry Shuck on the developing band. I love that the band’s development starts with kids being kids, following their dreams, talents and passions and working hard. A through line of family, friendship , community, support, collaboration and believing anything is possible is the through line in this honest interview with the band. I love that Nikki came to know the band at one of our community concerts in Barnstable Village. I love that they are also embraced by their generation and blossomed in spite of COVID.
