December 6, 1957 – May 25, 2026
Nancy Ann Scott, of Bandera, Texas, passed away on May 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy stitched together by grit, heart, horses, craftsmanship, and an unwavering love for her community. She was 68 years old.

Born on December 6, 1957, Nancy’s roots began in Wisconsin, growing up in Dane, where from the young age of six she would travel with her Grandmother from Wisconsin to the famed Cowboy Capital of the World — Bandera, Texas — to attend the rodeos. It was there that her lifelong love affair with horses and the Cowgirl way of life first took hold.
Nancy embodied the spirit of a true Texas cowgirl. Strong-willed, fiercely independent, and unforgettable with her trademark red hair and larger-than-life presence, she devoted her life to horses, western heritage, and the people she loved.

A gifted horse trainer and horsewoman, Nancy shared her passion by teaching children to ride, respect, and care for horses. Through her instruction, she offered young riders far more than lessons in the saddle — she introduced them to confidence, responsibility, compassion, and the extraordinary bond between horse and rider. For many children, Nancy’s pony parties and hands-on experiences became their very first glimpse into the magic of the cowboy and cowgirl way of life.

Nancy was also a visionary leathersmith and artisan whose craftsmanship reflected both the spirit of the Old West and her own unique creative eye. Her intricate western designs and custom leatherwork blended antique western style with modern artistry, creating pieces that were as authentic as they were beautiful.

Her love extended beyond horses and craftsmanship and into the kitchen, where “Sunday Fundays” and holiday chow lines on 11th Street Cowboy Bar became acts of quiet generosity and community love. Nancy believed everyone deserved a warm meal and a place to gather, especially during the holidays, and she opened her heart and table to countless people over the years.
Nancy is survived by her beloved husband, Ryan J. Scott; her son, Christopher Ackerman; her brother, Ralph Sabroff and sister-in-law, Dar Sabroff; along with many extended family members, friends, riders, neighbors, and members of the Bandera community whose lives were forever touched by her spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Robert Sabroff and Joan Marie (Brockert) Sabroff of Lake Mills, Wisconsin.
Bandera — the Cowboy Capital of the World — is invited to gather in celebration of Nancy’s life, legacy, and love for the community during an 11th Street Cowboy Bar Celebration of Life on Sunday, June 7, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

11th Street Cowboy Bar will be officially retiring Nancy Scott’s CowGirl Hat in its rightful place.
Well done, Bandera Cowgirl Nancy Scott. Well done
