The Mobtown Ballroom, located in historic Pigtown, is Baltimore's premiere location for social dance events, dance classes, live music, conferences, weddings, and general mayhem. At the Ballroom you will find dancing, burlesque, art shows, and pretty much everything you could want in an evening out. A restored 1870s church, the space boasts a 2,500 square foot sprung dance floor, a 1,200 square foot stage, and a full bar.

WORKSHOP ALERT: join us a week from tomorrow for a Slow Balboa crash course!

Do you wish you knew what to do when a lovely slow jazz ballad plays? Do you know some Balboa, but haven’t tried any Slow Balboa yet? Have you learned some Slow Bal, but want a refresher before Stardust Slow Balboa Weekend? Then this workshop is for you! While the workshop will be based in the historical development of the dance, we will incorporate more modern ideas too. Our goal is to give you the tools to build your own Slow Balboa dancing and enjoy yourself on the social dance floor.

October 24th, 12-4:30pm. Some swing dance experience required (specifically dancing in a close hold), but you don’t need to have a lot of prior balboa experience.

This is a clip of the one and only Meschiya Lake () singing her heart out on the closing night of our old space in 2023. She was the first and last person to sing for us in that building, and the first in our new space only a night after this video was taken.

Last month we turned 15 years-old, and we are celebrating November 5, 6, & 7 with a doozy of a party. Live jazz & h***y tonk, both featuring Meschiya Lake.

• Thursday 11/5: We are teaming up with ***y_tonk for a night of live H***y Tonk and two-stepping to an all star band put together by with Meschiya Lake on vocals.
• Friday 11/6: Meschiya Lake & the Buttermilk Drops, a brand new group made by Nick Garrison ().
• Saturday 11/7, 4pm: Community Power Hour. This is a FREE hang out time; the bar and kitchen will be open, kids are welcome, and you don't have to purchase tickets to the weekend. Performances and the finals of the Glory of Mobtown competition (for $1,000!).
• Saturday 11/7, 8pm: Meschiya Lake & the Buttermilk Drops, plus a fourth, LATE NIGHT SET starting at 12:30. French toast breakfast buffet (tickets sold separately and going up soon), Invitational Strictly Lindy competition, and a late night fast dance contest.
• No official Sunday events, because we will be up until very late, but I'm sure we will find a way to hang out.

This Friday is your first chance to get in the running to win $1,000! Our Glory of Mobtown Competition is a progressive mix & match: Win any Friday night between now and our anniversary celebration on November 5-7 and you'll be in the finals on November 11th.

Here's how it works:
-Sign up online for $10 to compete tomorrow night, or any of the Friday nights leading up to the event. You can also sign up in-person, but signing up in advance helps us make sure we have balance between the leads and follows.
-Enter alone, and we will pair you randomly with partners. Each week the format will be slightly different, as that is our chaotic style.
-Come to the dance tomorrow and be ready around 10:30/10:45pm.
-There will be a winning lead and a winning follow each Friday. If you win on any of the Fridays, you will be in the finals at the Anniversary weekend.
-The finals are on 11/6 during the Friday night of our anniversary weekend. For the finals, dancers will be randomly paired with someone of the opposite role and judged as a couple. Winning couple wins $1,000.

This is a great opportunity to 1) practice competing in a low-stakes way, 2) show off, and 3) potentially win glory and money. GET ON IT. Link in our linktree and on our website.

Announcement: $1,000 PRIZE!

THE GLORY OF MOBTOWN COMPETITION
*A progressive Mix & Match that starts THIS FRIDAY*

Our 15th anniversary celebration is November 5th, 6th, and 7th, and the Friday night dance will feature the finals of the GLORY OF MOBTOWN competition. This competition spans 5 weeks, culminating in an epic showdown on the Friday night of the Anniversary. The winning couple will get $1,000.

How it works:
* Enter the Mix & Match (by yourself; we randomly assign partners) on any the five Fridays leading up to the event: 10/2, 10/9, 10/16, 10/23, or 10/30.
* The format will be different and a surprise each time, but always a mix and match, and always Lindy Hop.
* The winners of each Friday night prelim will be in the finals at the anniversary.
* You can enter as many times as you want (unless you win; then you don’t enter again because you will be in the finals).
* Do not enter if you aren’t coming to the event.
* It’s $10 each time.
