Our September flag. 💙 ;

September is Su***de Prevention Month, and this month we’re flying the semicolon — a symbol that a story can continue.

We’ll be keeping the conversation going with Mental Health Monday here on 9/14, followed by Baltimore’s Out of the Darkness Walk on 9/19.

Here’s to checking in, showing up, and reminding each other that no one has to go through the hard stuff alone. We love you all!

On Sunday, September 13, we’ll be gathering at Checkerspot to celebrate and remember our friend, Neale Osenburg. 💜

Neale was a part of our Checkerspot family, and we miss him dearly. In honor of his birthday, we’ll spend the afternoon together doing a few things he loved — watching Ravens football, sharing stories, and raising a glass in his memory.

We’ll also be raising funds for the Cushing Support and Research Foundation, an organization that was very important to him.

Please join us Sunday, September 13 from 12–5 PM as we celebrate a person who meant so much to so many.

with great friends + great beer. 🎡

We had an absolute BLAST hanging out at the Maryland State Fair with some of our favorite people — and seeing Year Round Fairground out in the wild never gets old.

A HUGE thank you to Bill for helping us get Checkerspot into the fair this year! We’re pretty dang excited to have our beer pouring alongside all the rides, fair food & fun. 💛

STILL A HERO IS BACK! 🍺
Our historic Baltimore Porter has returned.🤎

Brewed with beer historian Maureen O’Prey, Still A Hero is our recreation of an 1870s Baltimore Porter originally brewed by Thomas Murphy Dukehart — Civil War Navy hero turned Baltimore brewer.

This one is super chocolate-forward with a slight malty finish, brewed with local Chinook hops, Irish yeast & Irish moss, then fermented a little colder and cold conditioned in the German style as a nod to Dukehart’s German-Irish roots.🍫

A little piece of Baltimore beer history, brewed right here in Baltimore once again. 🍻

Judy took years of homebrewing, a whole lot of science, creativity, and love for craft beer and turned it into the place we all get to call Checkerspot. She’s helped bring more women into the beer world, supported the Baltimore beer community; and somehow still finds time to nerd out over ingredients, hang with her people, and run this place 24/7.

Checkerspot quite literally wouldn’t exist without her - and we wouldn’t want it any other way. WE LOVE YOU, JUDY! Now everybody go drink a Juniperus in her honor. 🍻💛
