It’s a good thing for Superman (and Clark Kent 🤣) that face recognition software didn’t exist when Clark was sent to earth from Krypton and adopted on this date by the Kent family in 1958!

Those infamous glasses made it impossible for anyone to recognize that Clark was actually Superman, but would today’s technology have ruined that?! 🤔 We shudder to think and today we celebrate Clark’s birthday — actually the day he was adopted by the Kent family and became Superman.

Speaking of all things super, it would be super if you would join us for lunch or dinner today for some seafood, steak, burger, wings, pork chops, veggies, pasta, soup or salad.

What’s even more super is that it’s Thursday which means Happy Hour til 6 pm, $1 Oysters all day, AYCE Ribeye, 75-cent Wings and BOGO Free Fajitas!

As many of you have heard, one of our young Crooked Bass family members, 16 year old Chase Douglas, suffered severe injuries in a car accident on April 19.

Chase is now home from the hospital — Praise God! He still needs our help as he continues to recover from a spinal cord injury, numerous broken bones and 7 surgeries (and awaiting his 8th). He may have had broken bones, but his spirit, faith and positive attitude remain strong and unbroken and we are so very thankful for that.

Thanks to the generosity of so many of you after our initial post about the accident, we have raised enough money to construct a ramp and, hopefully, be able to modify one of the bathrooms in their home to give him wheelchair access. He was also the recipient of a power wheelchair, thanks to a family whose son had received a new one.

While there have been so many blessings for which we are truly grateful, there are still many long-term expenses that Chase’s family will face with his extensive rehabilitation that is now being done on an outpatient basis. The rehab, as well as doctor appointments with various specialists, requires his mom to miss work for the appointments in Orlando, which require a lot of gas. Funds are still needed to help modify their vehicle or to put towards the purchase of a wheelchair accessible vehicle to make it safer for Chase to have access to the vehicle. There are also certain medical needs that, sadly, are not covered by his insurance (despite the fact that they are medically-necessary for his condition).

Many of you have asked if we will be hosting a benefit for Chase and we are pleased to say that it’s been scheduled!

We will be hosting a benefit barbecue on Saturday, June 27 from noon - 3 pm in our Tiki.

We will have Smoked Pulled Pork and Smoked Chicken Dinners for a $15 minimum donation per dinner with 100% of the proceeds going to the Chase Douglas Donation Account, which has been established at the Mid-Florida Credit Union. Dinners will include baked beans, macaroni & cheese and a roll.

Dinners can be purchased using cash, checks (payable to Chase Douglas Donation Account) or CashApp ($tcbracewell0827).

If you cannot make it by on the 27th but would like to make a monetary donation to help, you can donate directly to Chase via the CashApp above or you are welcome to drop off your donation at the restaurant. Any amount is appreciated and 100% will be used for Chase’s care.

If you would like to preorder BBQ dinners (which would DEFINITELY help us to know how much to prepare!), please post in the comments how many you would like.

On behalf of Chase and his family, we thank you, in advance. Your help and your prayers for continued healing for Chase are appreciated.

Well, Marcie, you don’t have to be such a Debbie Downer — you could have let Peppermint Patty think she’s eating her veggies when she has that piece of carrot cake, especially today since it’s “National Eat Your Vegetables Day”!

If you like vegetables (others that are not carrot cake 😉), then you will definitely want to try some of our fresh veggies. When we opened in 2016, we were determined to offer our guests several choices of delicious, home style , fresh vegetables to accompany their entrees and we have continued to deliver on that commitment.

On our daily menu, we serve green beans, black-eyed peas, collard greens, spinach, asparagus, broccoli, sweet potatoes (whole and as fries), new potatoes, corn on the cob, coleslaw, fried okra and onion rings, so it’s a veggie lover’s delight (and it sometimes makes it hard to choose just two!)

So, Marcie (and the Moms of the world), we are definitely doing our part to help others eat their vegetables — today and everyday!

If you are in the mood for shrimp or wings, they are today’s AYCE specials.

If you are old enough to recognize the items in the first photo, then you might remember the anticipation that you felt as a kid digging in the box of Cracker Jack® looking for that little “prize” that always seemed to be at the bottom of the box!

Today we are reminiscing about that because it’s the 130th anniversary of the release of Cracker Jack®, the delicious caramel-coated popcorn and peanut snack whose slogan is "The More You Eat The More You Want".

Do Cracker Jack® boxes still contain prizes? You bet! Every pack comes with a prize inside. The current prize is a sticker that can be used to unlock classic games at CrackerJack.com.

Our food is kinda like a prize and you don’t even have to dig for it 😂. Today’s AYCE specials are Grouper and Frog Legs and we always have our full menu of seafood, steaks (including prime rib), burgers, wings, pork chops, pizza, soup, salads, pasta and more (but sadly, no Cracker Jack®…😉).

“Blessed indeed is the man who hears many gentle voices call him father.” — Lydia M. Child

This coming Sunday is a special day for dads, but why not take this opportunity to celebrate your dad all week long during “Universal Father’s Week”?

One day a year is not a lot to say “thank you” if you have been blessed to have a great dad — whether you have a biological dad, a stepdad or someone who is like a father to you. As Anne Geddes has said, “Any man can be a father. It takes someone special to be a dad.”

If you are blessed to still have your Dad with you, we would love for you to bring him in for lunch or dinner today for some AYCE Catfish (or something else delicious from our menu of seafood, steaks, burgers, wings, pizzas, pastas, soups, salads, veggies and more).

We would also love it if you would drop your favorite picture of your dad and/or a special memory that you have of him in the comments.

If you are planning to take your dad out on Sunday for Father’s Day, today would be a great day to call us at 863-589-5887 (or leave a comment) to make a reservation. Dads will receive a free domestic draft beer with their meals on Sunday!

"And let us never forget that in honoring our flag 🇺🇸, we honor the American men and women who have courageously fought and died for it. — President Ronald Reagan

Today we celebrate a very special birthday ... Old Glory 🇺🇸 is 249 years old today and we think she looks better with age!

In America, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14 and commemorates the adoption of our beautiful flag on June 14, 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.

So, we encourage everyone to take a moment and honor her today by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. We recited it everyday (hopefully) when we were kids in school, so why not honor her today on her birthday (and EVERYDAY, for that matter)?

If you are looking to enjoy lunch or dinner out today, you can always find something you will love on our full menu of seafood, steaks (including Prime Rib), burgers, wings, soups, veggies, pork chops, pastas, salads and more. Today is Sunday so the Tiki will be open all day (and you can also see Lady Liberty who stands proudly in our lobby area!)
❤️🤍💙🇺🇸

If you are reading this, it’s the perfect time to grab your gloves and your hoe (of the gardening type 😉) and head out to your garden to pull some w**ds. Or, if you are feeling a little lazy and don’t feel like pulling w**ds, grab some chalk and create some art, as shown in the first photo!

Today happens to be “National W**d Your Garden Day”, which serves as a reminder to all gardeners to take an extra 5 or 10 minutes to w**d their gardens. As most of us already know, unfortunately, w**ds grow a lot faster than the intended inhabitants of the garden — flowers and vegetables.

If all of that w**d pulling makes you hungry or thirsty, we hope you will head over to see us at The Crooked Bass Grill & Tavern for lunch or dinner. Inside dining opens at 11:30 am and the Tiki opens at 5 pm with William Williams playing from 6-9 pm.

“Some never enjoy the beauty of the rose because they were pricked by the thorns.”🌹🩸

Wow.. that’s deep… and likely true since the rose 🌹 is a symbol of love and romance, which we all, sadly, know can take a hurtful turn.

But, since today is “National Red Rose 🌹 Day”, we are choosing to focus on the beauty and positivity of the red rose (and not the thorns). Red roses 🌹 offer more than the message of love. They are also known for their fragrance and are cultivated for perfumes as well as brewing healing teas. In June, red roses are in bloom in flower gardens across the United States, and their beauty and sweet scent fill the air with happiness.

Speaking of happiness, we don’t have any red roses to offer, but we do have awesome food and friendly service. Plus, it’s Friday, which means the Tiki opens at 5 pm with Karaoke from 6-10 pm.

You never know, someone might even sing Poison’s "Every Rose 🌹 Has Its Thorn"!
