Here is my collection of commemorative soda bottles from Chicago, Atlantic City and Miami. Atlantic City (the blue one) still has the bottle cap and is from 1952. It was given away at an American Bottlers of Carbonated Beverags convention. The other 2 are from the 1970’s and look similar but are from a National Speech and Debate Conventions. The last picture are 4 I currently have for sale in my booth Wright's Barn Shoppes, LTD.

Vintage tool time again. Let’s talk about chopping.

#1 This is my friend’s favorite vintage chopper. It’s a spring loaded chopper with stainless steel blades and a wood handle. These were made in the 1930’s to 1940’s.

#2 Then there are ones like this from the 1970’s. This one is in Harvest Gold with a glass bottom. But you can find these inall your favorite MCM colors.

#3 But me for me, I prefer my modern electric version.

What do you prefer?

New Series - Vintage Kitchen Tools

Have you had any vintage kitchen tools passed down from another generation or picked one up at an antique store that now you can’t live without?

Here is my first one. The jar opener. It works like magic. It adjusts to clip on the lid and you turn and voila! Still working after all these years.

What is a “Blind Date with a Book”, you say? Well, let me explain. It’s a book that someone else has enjoyed and now wants you to enjoy it. These books are wrapped and have information about what kind of book it is without giving away too much. I have my information framed in a playing card. They are also wrapped so there there are pockets to tuck goodies in. Every book comes with a teabag and a custom printed book marker for the book. These can be found Wright's Barn Shoppes, LTD for $15.

I thought this was a great article about how to incorporate vintage Christmas ornaments in your decorating.

Because there’s no such thing as too many Shiny Brites.

I learned about Henry Heim and wanted to share. Henry Heim was a prominent figure in the Christmas ornament industry in the 1930’s. He was also known as Santa Heim. He produced millions of glass ornaments, particularly during World War II. He converted the historical Savage cotton mill into an ornament factory and bought 175 houses in the town of Savage, Maryland. He turned this into a 1880’s Christmas village. The grand opening on December 11, 1948 had over 12,000 people attend. Unfortunately, taxes, finances and the County health department forced him to close in 1950. Mr. Heim passed away in 1953. His ornaments are very collectible. Enjoy the pictures.
