F.W. Murnau, director of several German Expressionist films including “Nosferatu” and “Faust”, got his start in film in Germany after serving in the German Air Force during WWI. He emigrated to America in 1926 and directed several films including “Sunrise” which, according to film critics and directors is the best movie ever made in film history. It also won 3 Academy Awards in 1929. “Nosferatu” was not a commercial success at the time, but is now widely believed to be a masterpiece of German Expressionist Cinema. Of the 21 films he made, 8 are considered to be “lost”. He died in 1931 at age 43 in an automobile accident. Come see the fantastic “Nosferatu”, Monday, 10/28 at 7:30pm. Ticket link in the invite!

One of the most revered horror films of all time almost didn’t survive soon after it was released. In 1922, Bram Stoker’s widow sued over the adaption, as it was unauthorized. The German courts ruled in favor of Stoker’s estate and ordered all copies of Nosferatu destroyed, which they did. But the ruling could only apply within Germany’s borders. Years later a copy was found in the United States, and released in June of 1929. Come by Monday, October 28th to see this masterpiece! Link for tickets in the invite!
