Now, for the first time, the story behind the curtain is being told.
Award-winning journalist and filmmaker John Carlos Estrada alongside filmmaker Zak Zeh and Arcos Iris Creative House, is creating a feature documentary about the people, performances, history, and magic that have made Esther's Follies an Austin institution.
This isn't just a film. It's a preservation project.
From behind-the-scenes access and archival footage to stories from performers, creators, and cultural figures who helped shape Austin, this documentary will capture a piece of the city's creative legacy before it's lost.
