The art of serving wine at the correct temperature
Main benefits of decanting:
• allows wine to faster contact with oxygen 👉release complex aroma bouquet
• allows to naturally bring the temperature of wine a few degrees up if the wine is too cold
• certain slight wine faults, such as volatile acid can be removed or reduced by extensive decanting (up to 4 hours or more)
• esthetically pleasing
• easily allows to get rid of the sediment by simply leaving it inside of the bottle
Decanting is particularly important for the young Georgian wines fermented in Qvevri prior to serving
Be careful when decanting old wines as they are literally fragile. Powerful exposure to oxygen can completely take away the vinous complexity and turn it into the undrinkable
