Thinking of the amazing Jimmy Rogers on his heavenly birthday today. He first rose to prominence playing guitar alongside Muddy Waters and Little Walter before cutting a ton of great sides on his own for Chess Records. At Antone’s, Jimmy Rogers was a fixture and honorary family member, refusing to play in town for anyone but Cliff. We remember him everyday.

Happy Birthday to a true Renaissance man, our Production Manager Dillon!

Whether he's wrangling bands loading into the club, hosting the Double Heads hour on KOOP Radio, managing a sandlot baseball team, or leading a frickin’ parade at Blues Fest, he consistently proves to us that one guy really can do it all. If you've come across him, he's probably made you feel at home, just as soon as his dog Fergus makes sure you’re cool.

Today marks 20 years since the world lost Clifford Antone. He devoted his entire adult life to the blues and the musicians who played it. Clifford's generosity knew no bounds, and his love for the people who made the music was limitless.

There are countless Clifford stories, tales of doctor checkups and emergency operations, guitars loaned and purchased and handshake deals for shows that didn't do the numbers, and for every story we’ve heard, there are 100 more we haven’t.

His zealotry for music in Austin changed our city, and the players he championed changed the world and the trajectory of American music in the last half-century. Cliff's spirit lives on in all of us. And at Antone’s, we spend every day trying to fill the enormous shoes he left behind.
