🥩 A little full-circle sustainability moment at Redbud! 🌱🍺

We’ve been working on upgrading our food license so we can eventually sell proteins right here at the brewery. Until then, if you’re craving some delicious beef sticks, reach out to Slay Cattle Company and give Arin some business! 🐄

Arin has been with us since the very beginning, picking up our spent grain and putting it to good use by feeding it to his cattle. Now we get to see a little piece of that grain make its way back to the community.

From brewery → to cattle → to beef sticks… that’s what we call full-circle sustainability. ♻️

Redbud Tap Pick puts you behind the bar. A customer walks up with a vibe, you check the tap list, and your job is to pick the beer that best fits what they’re looking for. Then you pour it and see how you did. 🍻

📚 What a great turnout for the first meeting of The Local Chapter! We’re excited to see this group getting off to such a great start. 🍻

🍺 HOW DID AMERICAN BEER BECOME SO LIGHT?

The American lager we know today wasn’t created overnight—and it wasn’t simply because Americans wanted “bland” beer.

🇩🇪 In the mid-1800s, German immigrants brought lager brewing to America. American brewers began using corn and rice alongside barley (ie. Mexican lagers and cream ales), creating lighter-bodied, cleaner beers that were also easier to produce on a large scale.

🇺🇸 World War II pushed the style even further. Grain was rationed, encouraging greater use of corn and rice. Millions of servicemen were also introduced to lighter American lagers, helping establish them as the country’s dominant beer.

📺 Then came mass advertising and a color television in every home. A clear, golden, picture-perfect, ice-cold lager was easy to market—and soon beer became associated with baseball, backyard barbecues, beaches and good times.

By the 1970s, light beer took the idea even further.

So today’s quintessential American lager is the result of immigration, ingredients, war, industrialization and marketing—all coming together over more than a century.

And eventually, the craft beer revolution would push back, bringing variety and bold flavors back to the American beer scene.

There’s a lot more history in that “light beer” than you might think. 🍻

Trivia is tonight at 6 PM! 🧠 Come test your knowledge, have a few beers, and see if you can take home the bragging rights. 😎

And speaking of putting those brains to work… it looks like we have a book club forming! 📖 The first meeting is Thursday evening at 7 PM.

Don’t worry—we won’t make you brush up on beer styles, brewing methods, or the difference between a mash tun and a mash-up. 😂🍻

It’s genuinely exciting to see the traction this group is getting, and a huge shoutout to Mug Club member Brittany Schowalter for putting in the excellent leg work to get it rolling! 👏📚
