On this date in Shortstop History in 1991 Leslie "Ray" Burns fell into a large box and was stuck there for sometime. He also got himself duct-taped to a wall. John Kinary was on hand to watch Ray participate in a unique father and son game of catch involving Baby Jason, Billy and Ray.

On this date in Shortstop history of July 17th of 1982-Two Shortstop customers announced that they would be changing their legal name in honor of the name of the beer cooler in the bar they frequented to "Jordan Cooler."

On this date in Shortstop History, July 16 1976, the famous "Ye Old Short Stoppe Ale House' sign was painted by renowned local artist Mike Napoli. Napoli's related to area athlete Tom Napoli who was recently named to the New York State softball All-Time team.

On this date in 1975 in Shortstop Tavern history-dressed fully in New York Yankee attire Marty Malvaso used a huge score on the pinball machine to win his second straight Shortstop Indoor Athlete of the Year Award. Jeff Martino and David Balk also defended their Team Indoor Championship as well. The future of the tournament is cloudy, however, as in the finals of the Senior Men's Blindfold Darts Event an errant dart by Paul Mallon struck a heavy set health inspector in her upper thigh. She made several threats as she was placed into the ambulance.

On this date, July 14th of Shortstop Tavern history in 1981- Shortstop regular Nancy H. went to the elegant ladies room and while partially disrobed-lost her balance and got lodged like a beached whale between the toilet and the wall! Six hours later good samartians Cindy Champlin, Ralph Tarr and John Heely finally were able to free her.

On this date, July 11 of 1970, in Shortstop history- local crimestoppers Joseph Lopiccilo and Anthony Lobisco organized and directed the Shortstop Mixed Choir and gave a recital. It received a less than lukewarm review by local media critics. Members of the choir included Bill Fedigan, Joseph "Ace-Tequilla" Babiarz, Willie O'Pep, Diane Verillo, Billy Noonan, Larry Fronce, Dee Chamberlin, Kathy Pinckney, Joe Stropec, and "Shopgate" Kelly.

On this date in Shortstop history in 1993 high-end perfume saleswoman "Trish the Dish" (chosen upstate NY's most attactive woman for many years) put on her first of hundreds of standing room only entertainment shows. One week later she announced her wedding engagement to Shortstop owner Billy Kufs.

On this date in Shortstop Tavern history in 1980 one of Auburn's best David Rabuano hosted his first of many "halftime parties." Phil Lagravanese easily won David's brownie eating contest.
