Sue Marston and Larry Roy officially presented the check from the Grand Finale Summer Block Party to Make A Wish Maines CEO Kate Vickery yesterday. It was certainly a humbling experience. Thank you once again to all the volunteers, business sponsors, vendors, bands, and everyone who came out to support this great cause.

THE NUMBERS ARE IN!!!
I would first like to say that I am absolutely blown away by the generosity of this community. To think that we put on this event and were able to raise this kind of money is nothing short of amazing. I would like to thank my right hand through all of this, Pam Ashby. I would not have been able to steer this ship alone. A huge thank you to Sue Marston. I thank you for your support and friendship over the years. My wife Diana, who has been my rock and support system during the busy planning stages.

To think that this event was started by my best friend Jim Marston and it grew into what it was is heart warming. I am proud and humbled to say that I was able to carry the torch to the finish line for Jim. I know that he is smiling down on us knowing how successful this event was. Well, enough rambling on.......

I will be presenting a check to Make A Wish Maine in the amount of $187,000. This will grant 26 wishes to local kids battling critical illnesses right here in our community.

Over the life span of The Summer Block Party, we have been able to donate over $750,000 and granted 107 wishes. I am proud to say that we did Jimbo proud, and his legacy can now live on.................

Granting a wish for Matthew Gahagan, 17, of Standish, at the final Summer Block Party, event organizers hope to raise $133,000 this year to grant 19 wishes through Make-A-Wish.

To say that the Summer Block Party Grand Finale was epic is an understatement. We had a goal of 19 wishes ($133,000), this would have given us a total of 100 wishes since the start. Well…………we blew that number out of the water thanks to all of your generous support. Stay tuned for the final number. I am humbled by the wonderful support!!!!
