First week of FIRST GRADE officially in the books‼️📚💙

Korey,
I wanted to wait until the full week was done. Figured if I waited it wouldn’t hit me as hard. Boy was I wrong!
It feels like every school year is another reminder of just how fast this journey is moving. From the days when your Mom and I had to hold your hand through every new experience, to now watching you walk into first grade becoming a little more independent, confident and sure of yourself.

Son, as you grow, there will be so many places we won’t be able to walk into with you. Classrooms will eventually become bigger, small decisions will become life decisions, and little challenges will become bigger ones. But one thing will never change, your support system. We will always be there.

Sometimes beside you, sometimes behind you, and sometimes watching from a distance as you figure things out for yourself… but never far away.

This is your journey, Korey Jr. We just have the blessing of watching it unfold, helping guide you, picking you up when you need us and cheering the loudest with every step forward.

Congratulations on your first week of first grade, son. One week down, so much life ahead of you. Mom & Dad are here for all of it. ❤️📚

This subject has been on my mind for a while… Ive had it over and over again behind closed doors for a few years now. But never really found the right opportunity to voice it. Truth be told… I’ve been trying to find that opportunity since Kandi Burruss had to close one of her businesses and people took to the internet to give their uneducated opinion on the WHY. Let me start off by saying that this post isn’t about her, or much less anyone else specifically. That moment just honestly truly hurt my feelings. Because I understood the truth and unfortunately could relate.

I’ve watched so many of you tear down hard working owners and form your own narrative of why they faced hardships. I watched you side with self proclaimed “food critics” who tore down our city’s hospitality scene and discredited so many entrepreneurs because of opinion. Opinions that were misled. Does this mean that everyone runs an above business? Of course not. Does it mean there aren’t real issues at some of these places? Of course there are. But that’s not always the case… there is a larger issue. And it’s playing out right before our eyes.

A lot of people don’t truly understand how the restaurant business works. And much less how they fail. In the recent light of the closings that have happened in Houston, the conversation seems all so familiar. Another emerging hospitality scene… being torn down by opinions. Sure everyone can share what they THINK… but we can never replace that with what we KNOW.

An old friend Commercial Real Estate Advisor- HTX gave one of the most complete understandings of how these things actually happen. These 2 minutes just scratch the surface of what an owner/ operator has to think about in his/her everyday journey as an entrepreneur. I hope this sheds light and leads to further discussion. Steal this post. We all need to be in the know. Prayers For all my friends and colleagues in Houston and every place else trying to navigate this tough time in the business.

To my baby boy,

A pastor once said, you have to learn to hear God for yourself. He speaks in different ways to different people. For 41 years I’ve been a visual learner and for the last 6 God has made you my Living and breathing visual example. God gave me a chance to see life through fresh eyes.

Son, I need you to always remember how special you are. Never let this world make you doubt yourself, shrink yourself, or feel like you aren’t enough. You were born and taught to stand out, lead, create, inspire, and walk into every room with purpose. So watching you get the Leadership award on Graduation gave Daddy happy tears!

No matter how big you get, no matter how old you become, you’ll always be my baby boy and I’ll always protect you, guide you, pray for you, and push you to be greater than I ever was. I told you some weeks ago that being “like Dad” is your minimum. Being greater is your mission. And No, while I will make sure you have the tools necessary… I won’t make it easy for you! Take our name further… I want you to dream bigger than me, go further than me, and become everything I know you’re capable of becoming. I’m proud of you beyond words, son. Thank you for giving my life a different kind of purpose when I needed it most.

Going to Egypt wasn’t just a trip, it’s a return.

There was something about being there that reconnected me with history and to myself. The land is alive with meaning. Egypt slows you down in a way, reminding you to think free, move with intention, and truly be present. And you can’t help but ask, if I was alive, who would I be? Where would I live? where would I fit in all of this?

From standing in the shadow of the pyramids, dipping my feet in the Nile, or walking through streets full of life and origin of culture, you start to feel like your spirit is being poured back into.It’s rewarding in a way that’s hard to explain until you’ve felt it. You leave with more than pictures. You leave with perspective. You leave grounded, grateful, and recharged… like you didn’t just visit Egypt but instead you reconnected with something timeless inside you.

My Son,

Six years ago, God trusted me with you, and every day since has been an honor.

Korey, I’ll always be your first example, your protector, and your biggest believer. But I wont always be here.
In those moments, I pray you hear Dad clearly:
Your honesty will carry you further than talent, your character further than confidence, and your discipline further than applause. Walk into every room knowing you belong. Speak with confidence, but always listen with humility. Stand on your word, respect people, and work hard even when no one is watching.

And Son, if there is ever a time when you don’t know what to do, do the right thing.

KoreyWitaK’s PLUS +1 BIRTHDAY WEEKEND

Hey Family,
As you know, my idea of how I celebrate my Birthday changed last year. So after turning down a few turn ups and figuring out how to be more inclusive I came up with this! The +1 Weekend where everybody gets to be part of the crew, or essentially my +1 for anything I do. Below is a full description of what that will look like(please read). Either way,just show up, I GOT YOU! After all you are my +1 all weekend!!

THURSDAY at TULUM:
Reservations are on Open Table. Hit me if you need the link.
Only a handful of spots left. This is not a traditional Bday dinner at a Long table like I’ve done in the past. This is community style! So book it like a regular reservation, and off top you will get access to my OFF MENU items, at MY PRICE.

KOO KOO ROOM (the Afterparty)
No more reservations at Tulum? No problem! Not tryna end the night cause those shots got you feeling it? Cool we are mobbing thru Koo Koo Room directly after. NOBODY PAYS, Everybody is WITH ME! Let’s finish the Night strong. No cameras. No Bougie sh*t. You either are at the bar or on the dance floor. There is no in between!

FRIDAY - SKIP DAY at WESTSIDE MOTOR LOUNGE:
So Poncho & Cac said we gotta be a little more civil on this one amongst the working class folk. They even gave me a discount list for ONLY MY PEOPLE. So we will play nice! Once my list is done tho, it’s done. No exceptions. Don’t call me, Call Ant. It’s a day party so pace yaself. Doors open at Noon. And it’s over at 7. It’s indoor outdoor so dress appropriately, but be fly it will be 1,000 people on that runway with you so make sure ur killin ‘em!

SATURDAY
It’s OUR BIRTHDAY. As you may or may not know, me and my son Korey Jr. share the EXACT SAME BIRTHDAY!! Crazy right. Well he is pi**ed that he can’t party with me, so I’ve decided I’m dedicating that whole day to him and making him feel special. Pics otw!

Aight so this is my favorite part. I just wana bring in this new year praying with my ppl! I Need u there like 9:30am tho so we can all sit together and worship together. Children’s church is available for the kids! Group pic after!
