I’ll never forget the first time I sat down at the table with Bertrand and Hélène Gautherot and their daughter Héloïse (the family behind Champagne Vouette et Sorbée). We were at a restaurant in Beaune and after a long meal with many bottles shared Bertrand invited us down the street to drink some Champagne. His English got better and my French stayed non-existent but more confident at least. He spoke passionately about biodynamics, farming, aging, the darkness of the barrel and the light of the bottle., the life and the energy that is wine. It’s etched in my mind - a seat at the table - with a master of his craft.
On Tuesday, October 14th, Madeira Park kicks off an intimate winemaker dinner series with Héloïse Gautherot (winemaker at Vouette et Sorbée) and importer . One table with 9 guests and the masters of their craft. We will taste and discuss 4 different Champagnes over a meal from the Madeira Park team. These wines are profound and rare but the opportunity to taste them with Héloïse will likely never come again…
