CONCEPT

The Joint will be a casual yet stylish, intimate drinking establishment to be enjoyed after work, before or after dinner and clubbing, or as an alternative. Envision a neighborhood div

e bar found in the post-apocolyptic Mad Max Thunderdome; a high-tech cocktail lounge environment blending science, art, and industry. Cool cocktails, amazing visuals, in a steampunk design. The specialty drink menu and a limited menu of munchies will be available throughout the night. Representing high-brow and low-brow culture, the menus feature ingredients and dishes indigenous to the south. Music programming will include a vast array of DJs, song selectors, and live performances. The Joint will also be non-smoking. (patrons may light up on the outside patio)

With common ownership and mangagement to neighbor Tongue & Groove, the service, hospitality, foh, boh are sure to be exceptional, bar none. INTERIOR

The design celebrates an era of invention and imagination - a mating of technology and romance. This is encapsulated in the steampunk art movement that fuses retro futurism with a Victorian passion. The techno-art aesthetic is a cross-pollination of design, pop sci-fi and high technology. The interior represents this vision with its’ vocabulary of materials; welded and rusted metal and steel, weathered barnwood, brick and mortar, raw concrete, deep purple velvet drapes, brown leather seating and wooden barstools, industrial metal tables, a large antique mirror behind the the bar, a repurposed chandelier and crafted lighting retro-fitted with LEDs, and European antiques. A modern art installation by nationally-renowned Asheville artist Jimmy O’Neal hangs from the 23’ ceiling. The massive spiral sculpture is constructed from the corrugated polycarbonate panels of an old greenhouse and reclaimed wood, embellished with leaves in Jimmy's patented, mirror-like paint. When lit from within with white LEDs, the entire piece glows like an elegant chandelier. The mathematics principal of the Fibonacci Sequence, which is often found in nature, provides a basis for the spiral which fills the entire ceiling. Jimmy’s sculpture also evokes a curled tongue, reminiscient of the old tongue & groove awnings which adorned the exterior of the previous Buckhead Village location. FORMAT

The versatile sound booth allows for niche musical formats presented by a roster of DJs and live performers ranging from new wave to classic rock to electro.
