Q: Nick, why does it take so long to receive a paper check?

A: To be completely transparent, paper checks are the slowest and most difficult method of payroll processing for everyone involved.

Fan Favorite Vending & Staffing processes payroll at least two business days before each payday. We submit all payroll information to our payroll provider, Paychex, which then begins processing payments.

Employees enrolled in direct deposit typically receive their pay much faster. Some employees report seeing funds available almost immediately, while others receive their deposits on the scheduled payroll date (the 1st or the 15th).

For employees not enrolled in direct deposit, Paychex mails the paper checks to our office first. Once we receive them, our team must review, stamp, and prepare them for mailing. Depending on when the checks arrive and what day of the week they are received, they may not be mailed until the next business day. After that, delivery is dependent on USPS processing and mail delivery times.

As you can see, there are several additional steps involved with paper checks compared to the electronic transfer of direct deposit.

Please help us help you get paid faster by logging into the Paychex Flex app and verifying your information, including:
• Name
• Address
• Phone Number
• Email Address
• Tax Information
• Direct Deposit Information

If you have not yet enrolled in direct deposit, we strongly encourage you to do so as soon as possible.
