Thank you to our customers and staff who helped him as well.

BS in Marine and Coastal Science heading to NASA’s Stennis Space Station to work at the US Navy Research Center for the summer then getting his doctorate in Ocean Physics at University of Florida. It’s been a helluva year for this guy! Big thanks to his biology teacher Mr. Cain at Astoria High School and to everyone at the Wildlife Center of the N Coast for their help getting Phelan to where he is now. It took a village!

In a desire to stay non political, it wouldn’t be right to ignore this terrible safety decision to dismantle a key science monitoring system that we use for weather predictions and ocean navigation plus a whole lot more here on the coast. Our economy depends on weather and ocean monitoring for our own safety and economic stability. This decision directly affects the City of Astoria and the coast of Oregon. We hope our legislation can move quickly to stop this disasterous (as in natural disaster) decision.

“It’s a crippling loss of information,” said an Oregon State University professor who helped lead the initiative’s Pacific Northwest operations.
