What a fun week that was!
Birthdays, fantasy football draft, visits from far away friends, a bit of Astoria "royalty", art walk, live music and a Buoy reunion. You all continuously bring me so much joy!

Happy Second Saturday Art Walk Brut Squad!
I'm so excited this month to be hosting the art of Madeline Poukkula on the art wall.
I met Madeline years ago while she was working at Buoy (😓) and I was needing many beverages to get me through the build-out of Brut. Flash Forward 7 years and now I get the privilege of looking at her beautiful collages all month!

Madeline will be at Brut at 4:30 today, so stop by, grab a glass and say hi.
As a bonus, Siobhan Kaplan will be playing from 5-7pm! This should be such a fun day.

*Also, please note that after today, Brut will be closed the next few days for a visit to see Dad. I'm hoping to be back open Thursday at 3:00. Stock up!

🍷This month any glass of Pinot Noir from the by the glass list will benefit the Astoria After School Art Room!
🎨 Art Room After School supports the social, emotional, and academic growth of Clatsop County youth. Because every child deserves access to meaningful art experiences, these classes are free. The program is open to all students in Clatsop County! Recently, they did a fun project using old corks from Brut!

💛 I'll be closing early on Friday to do some prep for Saturday and attend a mandatory employee meeting.
🩷 I will be closed next Tuesday. Several of my cousins will be in town for the weekend and I'm looking forward to spending time with them. Stop by and say hi if you see us out and about!

Saturday will be one month until fall and that alone is a reason to celebrate!
🍁 Let's start with a w**e sale. The fall is when I start MY busy season with SO many new w**es that I will be wanting to bring in. It's time to clear out some of the slow movers!
🍁 To make it more festive, the talented Siobhan Kaplan will be playing from 5:00 to 7:00! This is always a party.

Last year, my friend, former coworker, and w**e rep extraordinaire Aaron was diagnosed with throat cancer. Throughout his treatment, he realized how many people dealing with something like this are worried about things like paying for their care, covering rent, and even finding rides to the clinic. He wanted to find a way to help and that's what this project is about!
Mano Co***to ("horned hand") is it Italian good luck charm for warding off questionable spirits. The label was designed by Jane Russell, the fruit farmed organically and biodynamically by Shelby Perkins at Bracken Vineyard, and the w**e made by the Walter Scott team. A perfect collaboration!

Proceeds go to the Willamette Valley Cancer Foundation. And, Aaron is doing very well and continues to kick butt selling w**e in the valley! Cheers ❤️

This was one of my favorite things that I tasted a few weeks ago at Method Oregon! The 2020 Blanc de Blancs from St. Innocent.
🥂 Andre Tchelistcheff, one of the all-time greatest w**emakers in America, is quoted in Bon Appetit: "the greatest sparkling w**e in America will be made in Oregon, not California, because it is the right place to grow Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, The grapes of Ch*****ne.". At this point, Mark Vlossak (the owner/w**emaker at St. Innocent) decides that he has to do it!
🥂 He apprenticed under Fred Arterberry Jr., the first Oregonian to make Oregon sparkling w**e.
🥂 Did you know that Mark still hand riddles and disgorges every single bottle of sparkling?
🥂 This w**e is BEAUTIFUL! 100% Chardonnay from high-elevation Temperance Hill Vineyard in Eola-Amity.

Stop in and grab one! It's super limited and will disappear fast (possibly into my home collection 😉). $69/bottle

Welcome Angela Raines to the art wall!
🐰 "Life is a Parade" is a compilation of work created 2013-2026 capturing the fleeting moments of joy we experience in our lives with bittersweet acceptance that they can't last forever. Focusing on the quiet moments in not so quieter things like parades and services, we look past the crowds and see the Small things between the noise. Then we are able to see with more depth and gratitude when the noise starts up again.
