We, as a family, have restored Isis and made this historic theatre into what is now Kitchen 743 @ Isis Music Hall. We hope to bring back what Isis was originally, a place that brought people together and entertained the community. And wi

th that, a place that has great energy, even better food, local and regional music to get down to and just a good spot for a neighborhood hang. There were a number of Isis Theaters built during the 30s around the country. During the 30s - many folks had a fascination with Greek and Egyptian architecture (thus the birth of the art-deco period.) Isis was an ancient Egyptian goddess. :: Isis was worshipped as the ideal mother and wife as well as the patroness of nature and magic. She was the friend of slaves, sinners, artisans and the downtrodden, but she also listened to the prayers of the wealthy, maidens, aristocrats and rulers. Isis is also known as protector of the dead and goddess of children. We chose to keep the name of the original theater for which the building was originally built.

As a few you you have seen - I changed my cover photo to a shelf stacked with small logs (which my workshop is filled with). This kind of represents retirement for me (I guess) - as I'm now concentrating of my wood art and getting back into music (banjo) after neglecting these for a number of years. So, I have been updating a lot of the social media aspect of my life ( after closing Isis Music Hall / Isis Music Hall ). My email address as changed.... so if any of you have the older addresses ([email protected] or [email protected] ) neither of these are valid any longer. You can DM me if you would like to have the new address. I'm also changing my pages. We are selling the building at 743 Haywood Road - the home of Isis Music Hall for the past 10+ years. Hopefully, when sold, it will remain a top notch music venue. If so, we will transfer that page to whoever buys the venue. I have created a new page (the reason for the wood on the FB banner) - that page is Handsaw Productions / Firewood Art: https://www.facebook.com/FirewoodButterflies/ . I'm just now putting this page together.... but will be posting from that page as it develops. My art has been selected to be presented at Foundation Woodworks in the River Arts District in Asheville. Currently I have 4 pieces there (pictured below).

In the process of making these changes - to took the opportunity to go thru my "friends" list. Well, I don't really have 2000+ friends, but surprisingly enough - I did recognize a significant number of names from - high school ( Riverside Military Academy River Rats ), Ansley Animal Clinic clients, Isis Music Hall, musicians, family, etc. There were many I did not recognize - I assume many of those may have been related to the Isis Music Hall venture. Anyway - if Isis was the interest... feel free to unfriend me - I won't be offended - but thankful for your support doing the 10 years we were open.

ShadowGrass can trace its roots to the forefathers of bluegrass. While fully embracing the traditions of the past, ShadowGrass is moving forward in the genre by incorporating each member’s varied influences. This is a band that is comfortable stepping outside the bounds of traditional music while maintaining traditional instrumentation. Holding to their bluegrass roots, fast picking, and fresh arrangements have earned the band numerous awards in competitions across the region. ShadowGrass has had the privilege of playing at exciting venues, including The Blue Ridge Music Center, The Lincoln Theatre, The Historic Earle Theatre, Dollywood, and Silver Dollar City, and at festivals such as the National Folk Festival, MerleFest, Pickin in Parsons, the Berryville Bluegrass Series, HoustonFest, the Richmond Folk Festival, the National Youth Workers Convention, the Lowell Folk Festival, the Montana Folk Festival and the IBMA World of Bluegrass StreetFest. ShadowGrass has also appeared on the Today Show with Al Roker during the 2016 IBMA World of Bluegrass Week in Raleigh. ShadowGrass has been called “one of the most thrilling bluegrass bands to emerge from the musically-rich Crooked Road area in recent memory.”
