You’d think it was from the 1920s, but the origin is much more modern.
 
In 2007, legendary bartender Sam Ross was blasting M.I.A.’s smash hit “Paper Planes” on repeat while developing a new summer drink based on pre-prohibition cocktails.
 
The concoction contain bourbon, lemon juice, Amaro Nonino (craft-distilled Italian digestif) and Aperol.
 
It’s bright, bittersweet, and perfect for summer sipping.
