Over the past 18 days, I have been riding in the Great Cycle Challenge.

Within those 18 days, here's what else has been happening:

774 families have heard the painful words, "Your child has cancer."

We've lost 97 children to this terrible disease.

These families deserve more effective treatments and better outcomes for their kids. And that's why childhood cancer research is so important.

While our month of riding will make a massive difference to the children and families affected by cancer, we can all strive for the day when childhood cancer is a distant memory.

Because kids should be living life, NOT fighting for it.

As I get out on my bike over these next 12 days, please keep these kids in your hearts and minds as I climb those hills and crank those pedals.

The kids won't give up, and neither will I.

The Summers family received sad news that Pedro Ray passed away this passed Sunday in his beloved Mexico Pedro was the daytime cook and Monday evenings.

LATEST FROM PROF. JAVIDARA!!
Greetings old friends of Summers. Joe has been working part time (4 days a week) as substitute teacher at the University of Maryland.
Joe teaches four Business Management classes per day, students are freshman and sophomores.
According to Joe, the job is much easier than managing a restaurant. Everything is digital and feels his career has undergone a 360. Who would have thought? From managing a restaurant to teaching introduction to business administration.

UPDATE:
Through the 38 years Summers served the sports fan communities, Joe Javidara demonstrated leadership and exemplary management skills to privately support and maintain the operations of our beloved hang out.
Since Summers closed in September 2020 with not a lot to do other than maw the lawn, Joe enrolled at the University of Maryland in its MBA program. After months of rigorous studyies and sharing his business management exprience in classes, he earned his MBA diploma.
Joe says that he is not done. UMD has offered him three different positions in business management (non food industry related) and a part-time teaching position. He says that "the next 60 days (I) will decide what to do."
So what do you think Joe should do?
1. Open up a new conceptual sports restaurant?
2. Take up one of the three business management opportunities at UMD?
3. Teach business administration to undergrads on a part time basis?
4. Buy a nice beach front property in Malta and let eveyrone swing by and crash?

Joe says he enrolled at UMD looking for a new challenge but more importantly, he misses the community and wishes everyone to stay safe and take care of each other.

These are the last pictures of Summers. Crazy landlords, hooligans, comedians, political parties, 10 million soccer fans, NFL, Basketball fans could not take this place down...but Corona did.
For 38 years Summers has been part of the Arlington family.
