A line of more than 40 people stretched out from the front door of Beale's’s Beer (Bedford, Va) to Grove Street on Saturday morning, the thirst of nearly a year’s wait about to be quenched with the brewery’s return under new ownership.
Led by owner Vee Patel, whose company also operates Marshal's Bar & Grill in Appomattox County, said the goal is for Beale’s reputation to grow even stronger throughout the state.
“We’re going to work on expanding our distribution, as well as keeping the taproom like it used to be, and get the great food out there, great beers,” Patel said. “We have new lineups coming.” Two new beers and a new seltzer were released on Saturday.
“Business has always been a part of my life — I’ve been involved in it since I was a kid, and today I’m proud to be part of several businesses across nearby towns. Something like Beale’s has always been in the back of my mind. When the opportunity came up here in Bedford, being local, everything just aligned — and it made complete sense to move forward” Said Vee Patel.
The previous owner, Waukeshaw Development Inc., operated the brewery from 2017 until May 25, 2025. Dave McCormack, who heads that company, told The News & Advance in an interview last year that they wanted to see Beale’s operated by someone local who can focus on it.
The brewery had a great eight-year run, and the stage was set for the next chapter, McCormack said.
