There are only nine rickhouses at the Deatsville property. Roughly 90 years old and among Heaven Hill’s oldest warehouses. They also have a unique tiered roof architecture found nowhere else in the portfolio. Former Master Distiller Parker Beam realized this site created balance, complexity, syrupy sweetness and interplay between wood and spirit. We’ve tasted more than 20 private barrels from Heaven Hill over the years. We’re officially two for two in blind tasting and selecting casks from Deatsville.
They really are that different. That special.

Woodford Reserve Double Oaked was released in February 2012. We’ve been asking ever since for the opportunity to pick a private barrel. Finally, the bourbon gods shined down!
Cedar and cigar box on the nose. Surprisingly less oak than you might expect given the secondary barrel aging. 
Nougaty soft entry at first sip melting into ground cocoa nibs, caramel apple and hot honey.
