Patio Bar opens NEXT WEEK! Friday June 5th at 5pm. Asparagus from Slow Farm, blanched in well seasoned water and served with a tarragon and green garlic tartar sauce. As our menu shifts to highlight the bounty of Spring and Summer, we tend to cook with a lighter touch, allowing the ingredients to speak for themselves. As this asparagus comes out of its blanching water, it isn’t shocked in an effort to retain more of that intense minerality and flavor. We’ve been pretty obsessed with it. Only here for a couple more days.

Lots of good programming coming at you in June. As always, our Wednesday night tastings are a fun and casual way of learning about wine while drinking with your friends, good for all experience levels.

June 3rd: We’re diving into the mountain whites of Savoie, with two exciting producers. At 5:30, the precise and crystalline wines of Domaine des Ardoisières. At 8:00, Domaine du Gringet, a new project carrying on the legacy of legendary vigneron Dominique Belluard.

June 10th: A couple classics of American viticulture. At 5:30, Clos Saron and Frenchtown Farms—absolutely legendary ‘cult’ wines from North Yuba. At 8:00 we’ll taste through the wines of Walter Scott, a very exciting and sought after project from the Willamette Valley that has deep ties to Burgundy.

June 17th: At 5:30, new Jura whites from Domaine Patelle and Domaine Villet. Expect racy, oxidative, and nutty wines you’ve come to expect from Jura. At 8:00, a producer who needs no introduction: G.B. Burlotto from Piemonte. Our allocation of these highly anticipated wines just dropped and we are very excited to share them with you.

June 24th: Molly Smith of Les Lunes, a Spencer all time fav, will be in town to guide us through a lineup of their juicy and delicious wines, perfect for the summer season. Les Lunes has been quietly doing some of the best farming, land stewardship, and mentorship in all of California and the wines really show it…and Molly is a true Gem. Come out and say hello!

All tastings are available now on our website at the link in bio. 21+ of course.

While June signals the start of Michigan’s true abundance with verdant fields of herbs, alliums, and asparagus, it also signals a season of constant change and expectation. I must hold my breath in anticipation of this season of firsts—the first ripe strawberries or tender peas—as I keep asking our farmers when will they come. This week? Next week? Tomorrow? Despite my constant pestering, the answer that holds new meaning for me this year is that they’ll come when they’re ready.
