The Village of Amherst is beginning the process of updating our Comprehensive Plan & Zoning Regulations, and there will be a Kick-Off Meeting on September 23rd at 6:00 PM at the Amherst Community Center and they would LOVE to have you there!

This isn’t just about maps, zoning and paperwork. It’s about what we want Amherst to look like in the years ahead — our businesses, our families, our neighborhoods, future growth, and the little-town way of life we all care about. ❤️

Whether you’ve lived here your whole life, just moved to town, own a business, are raising a family here, or simply care about Amherst’s future, please come and be part of the conversation.

They’ll be discussing community priorities, demographics, zoning regulations and — most importantly — getting input from YOU.

TODAY’S LUNCH IS FOR WAYLON.

Waylon Jennings grew up in Littlefield, Texas, and some of his food memories were about as down-home as you can get. He remembered Sunday dinners with butter beans, and talked about eating peanut butter mixed with Karo syrup on bread and sharing roasted peanuts with his dad while listening to the Grand Ole Opry.

So today, we took those memories and gave them a little Stockmens nod. ❤️

Good Ol’ Boys Prime Rib Sandwich, Country-Fried Potatoes, Southern Butter Beans with Bacon — a nod to those Sunday dinners from his Littlefield childhood…..Littlefield Peanut Butter Pie — our take on those simple peanut butter memories from when Waylon was just a Texas kid, long before he became an Outlaw Country legend.

But there’s another reason the peanut butter means something to me…..Years ago, near the end of Waylon’s life, I had the privilege of playing a role in his care when he was a patient at the hospital I worked at. And one little thing I remember is that he enjoyed peanut butter protein shakes.

So y’all come have lunch with us today, from 11–2 at Stockmens Bar & Grill. And maybe turn up a little Waylon on the way.

YOU AIN’T WOMAN ENOUGH… TO PASS UP THIS LUNCH!

Today we’re tipping our hats to the one and only Coal Miner’s Daughter, Loretta Lynn — a woman who also never forgot where she came from and sure knew a thing or two about good, honest country cookin’.

So we’re serving up the kind of meal that belongs around a big ol’ Kentucky supper table:

Homemade Fried Chicken — crispy, golden and downright comforting - Scalloped Potatoes — creamy, cheesy and baked ’til bubbly - Loretta’s Pinto Beans — slow-cooked, simple and country as they come And because no proper country meal ends without something sweet…Homemade Blackberry Jam Cake — an old-fashioned Southern favorite made with blackberry jam and plenty of down-home goodness.

Loretta sang about real life, hard work, & family — so we figured the best way to honor the Coal Miner’s Daughter was with honest-to-goodness comfort food, made from scratch and served up hearty.

Come hungry and join us for lunch at Stockmens Bar & Grill in Amherst from 11–2… or until we run out, whichever happens first
