What’s in a name? Sometimes the simplest can be the most descriptive, and in this case, derisive and divisive! After much internal debate (ad nauseum! Bourb[KY]n, anyone?), we decided a single letter change was the best way to embody the bourbon barrel-aging that adds layers of complexity to an already exquisitely spiced pumpkin porter. First released in 2014, Pump[KY]n is the 3rd installment in our Annual Barrel Series, which also includes Uncle Jacob’s Stout, Rumpkin, and Tweak Coffee Stout.

This is a Pinot inspired sour that features blueberry, boysenberry, cranberry, strawberry and plum. The fruity bouquet pops with red berries, French Oak and light cellar notes from the Brettanomyces. The beer is crisp and puckering with the tartness of unripe fruit and a complex vinous finish that any wine lover would admire.

It's a blend of styles from Irish, English, and Belgian Traditions made in a way the evokes the lost rustic character of truly regional beers.

Descendant is made by brewing a 16 Plato wort from dark roasted barley and fermenting it with Molasses. In re-imagining a Boston Harbor tavern ale we used coffee malt to get a light smoke flavor as would be common with dark beers of yore. Chocolate malt is added to complement the once ubiquitous Boston ingredient: Molasses. We expected such a beer would be more rustic than todays clean irish stouts and english porters, so we used our house Saison yeast, Renaud to ferment the beer in a traditional warm fermentation.

Is it a Black Saison? A Farmhouse Imperial Porter? A Belgian Dry Stout? It seems to fit no name so we dubbed it a Suffolk Dark Ale.

In this brew, lightly toasted malts with subtly spicy hops blend into cinnamon
flavors and creamy lactose sugar. Their coalescence is so uncannily close to
fresh baked cinnamon rolls that it was impossible to name this beer anything
other than Cinnamon Roll Imperial Ale! Pairs perfectly with Eggs Benedict at
brunch, after dinner, or next to the fire for an unforgettable nightcap.
