has opened its Laguna Beach outpost, and it reads less like a copy-paste expansion and more like a location built specifically for its surroundings. For anyone following The Best Ceats and this is exactly the kind of move worth paying attention to.
The setting does a lot of the talking. Housed in a restored coastal home just off PCH, the space trades the typical restaurant feel for something more residential and relaxed. There’s an easy indoor-outdoor rhythm, a patio that invites you to linger, and an overall layout that feels aligned with how Laguna actually lives - unrushed, social, and a little sun-soaked.
On the food side, they’re sticking to what works, but tightening it. The dough program remains the backbone and is now being made for both restaurants (and the future bagel shop) out of the same location right across from Ahba in south Laguna - fermented with intention, dialed for texture, and executed with consistency. Round pies bring that balanced chew and char, while the square cuts lean crisp and structured. It’s familiar if you’ve had Truly before, but it feels sharper here.
Where this location separates itself is the drinks program. A full bar program enters the picture, with cocktails and wines curated to sit alongside the food rather than overpower it. It adds another layer to the experience and makes the space feel complete. The amaro experience is top notch (get the flight) and local brands like are supported.
Laguna Beach doesn’t need more restaurants - it needs the right ones. This lands in that category. It’s thoughtful without trying too hard, polished without losing personality, and built for people who actually care about what’s on the table.
