Hey everyone, here’s an update:

After much discussion and dialogue, we have made the difficult decision to remain closed as we continue to assess the next steps in the process and prepare for the possible sale of the business.

When we opened our doors with such hope and excitement three years ago, we never expected to be posting such a message. Nevertheless, things change, and here we are. Life is full of strikes and gutters, ups and downs.

We are proud, however. Proud to have persevered. Proud of what we have done and how we have done it. Proud of the brand that we have built. Proud of the product, and proud to have been a positive member of the community.

That being said, and although “thank you” doesn’t seem like it is enough, we want to say thank you. Thank you to our incredible staff. Thank you to our friends and family. Thank you to anyone who reached out with words of encouragement. Thank you to anyone shared our messages and posts. Thank you to anyone who rooted for us - loudly or quietly. Most of all, though, thank you to our customers and guests for the constant support, patience and compassion you’ve showed us over the last three years.

As we mentioned in our previous post, this isn’t goodbye forever, rather it’s just bye for now. We feel strongly that the brand and concept we have built can and will continue in some way, shape or form.

We will make an announcement in the coming days regarding the redemption of gift cards and the sale of our beer inventory. Please check back for that post. Until then, stay safe and warm.

All the best,

Matthew Salopek & the Salopek Family

Hey everyone, here’s a note on our plans for the new year:

As to not bury the lede, we have made the decision to be closed for the month of January to reassess and reevaluate the viability of our concept going forward. Despite how hard we have tried to persist, as amazing as our staff is (and has been from day one), and with as much support that we’ve had from all of you, this decision still had to be made. We know this affects a lot of people, but, if we are to try to survive, it had to be done.

As you all know, everything has changed. Unfortunately, the restaurant business has changed more than most. Labor and food costs have almost doubled. Labor is as hard to find as it has ever has been, while food quality and availability are in just as bad a place now than during the height of the pandemic. The cost of liquor, beer, wine and all of the other disposable goods that go into running a restaurant are much higher now, too. These aren’t excuses, they are facts. What it means, though, is that while our sales are significantly higher (both year over year, and month over month), the margins have basically disappeared. For a small, family owned restaurant, the low margin model with which we began (focusing on local, fresh and high quality ingredients and more), pre-pandemic, is now not sustainable.

That said, this isn’t a goodbye.

We plan to be available for catering, private events/dinners and maybe even a few “secret supers” (iykyk) throughout the month. Who knows what the future holds, but stay safe and warm, and we’ll see you soon. Keep an eye on our social media pages for updates as we move forward.

As always, thank you all for the patience and support over the last three years. We wouldn’t have made it this far without all of you.

With love,

Matthew Salopek and the Salopek Family
