Another Hidden Gem in Old Town:
Everyone knows and loves Union Street Public House, but many are not aware of the Oyster Bar in the back of the building, at the South end on the ground floor.

Much less crowded and noisy than the main bar and the bartender-to-pubcrawler ratio is much higher, yielding a significantly higher level of personalized attention.

I have no complaints about the service in the main bar (props to Bruce, Brody, Hank, et al), but often prefer the back bar when taking the little lady out for a dozen on the half shell.

Stop in the Oyster Bar the next time you're at Union Street and be sure to tell 'em F-Bomb Pubcrawler sent you!

Say it ain't so Pat! How will the old place keep going without you sitting at the end of the bar?

Actually, I'm no fan of the place. It is the closest bar/restaurant to my place and I virtually NEVER go in there. Murphy's is a better Irish pub, hands down. Maybe things will go better under new management. Happy trails Pat.

Alex, the pain in the ass former bartender at the Basin Street Lounge upstairs at 219 King Street, is now at La Tasca.

When he was running the bar at 219 he acted like he was king of the freakin' world. I don't know if he was fired or quit but he is significantly more humble and friendly in his new position.

Union Street Public House has a great happy hour menu that includes 50 cent grilled wings (very tasty!) and $1 local oysters on the half shell! M. Speedo and myself availed ourselves of the fine USPH fare Friday afternoon. The oysters were stupendous - especially at that price. Thanks Brody!
